After the Fener game I began trying to figure out the core of our issues. Every time I watched them play id always say to myself, "these guys don't know how to play with each other."
I personally believe this team has the quality to reach whatever targets set. I also believe in the quality of every player, even down to the ones under recent pressure, such as Rooney. Yet when you think about the circumstances in which they're playing in how could someone reasonably expect them to win. Look at it like this.
Who over the last 3 seasons has played consistently, in the same position, with the same players around them?
Or strikers have been thrown all over the pitch, having to adapt to a new position every other game never being able to build chemistry,
Our midfield has been a revolving door. From
The big physical fellaini midfields to the Quick tempo passing mata/Herrera midfields, and everything in between.
Our defense is again a revolving door of injuries and out of position CBs, to fullbacks like Luke shaw who unfortunately hasn't had enough playing time due to injury, and when he does play its with a different cast every night. To Valencia who tries his best but who we've had to convert from a winger.
Our problem is that we haven't sucked up taking a few bad results while keeping a set team together and building chemistry. Instead we try completely new and existing players in new roles looking for the magic key.
The best teams in the world keep a team together through the highs and lows to grow together, while we panic buy every year and hope our random teams will win the league. Until we look dumbfounded that we can't beat regimented teams like burnley.
Fergie knew best.
