Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has aimed a rather hilarious dig at Manchester United.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Watford, Klopp was asked whether not competing in Europe this season was a boost for the club’s title aspirations.

The Reds are third in the Premier League table after winning seven of their opening ten games, with goal difference alone separating them, Manchester City and Arsenal.

They face Watford at Anfield on Sunday, looking to strengthen their push for a first top-flight title since 1990.

“For the last six, seven years I was always travelling through Europe. I never thought ‘this is too much’,” he said when asked whether not competing in European competition was a boost.

“If you want to be successful, you need European football.

“Watford didn’t travel last week. They have the same situation. We have to show we use the time for training over the whole season, not the first 10 games.

“Did you ask the same of Antonio Conte? They have the same situation.

“Maybe Manchester United have the same from January onwards?”
