Nicky Butt is taking charge of Manchester United's Reserves on an interim basis, until a new coach can be found.
The club's Head of Academy is replacing Warren Joyce, who was appointed as Wigan Athletic manager earlier in the week.
Butt has previously coached the Under-19 teams that competed in the UEFA Youth League in 2013 and 2015.
United's Reserves are in friendly action at Brentford on Saturday, with a 15:00 GMT kick-off, before a next Premier League 2 assignment against Sunderland on Monday 21 November, live on MUTV.
