[Serious] What are we lacking?? (self.reddevils)

Hey guys, this is my attempt to establish a serious and reasonable discussion. Due to the most recent results I was asking myself 'what the hell are we especially lacking?' The last game against Burnley seemed like we'd took a step forward, but after the game today I gotta argue with that.. Today I could not recognize any form of tactical discipline whatsoever. A trait, Mourinho was always famous of.. Now I am asking myself 'why is that?' Has Mourinho changed? Is our squad not disciplined enough? Does our squad consist of tactically unadapt players? I am totally clueless.. Also, why doesn't any manager seem to get this great team (nominally) get back on track, however rather unpopular managers, e.g. Thomas Tuchel at Dortmund with a less talented team are doing just fine?

Real attacking fluidity. Our (attacking) players are mind-bogglingly static. They lack movement in behind and our midfielders are often too conservative. Rashford is not a winger; period. He can deliver a mean ball often times, however, his play style just doesn't suit a winger as well as it would suit playing through the centre. We don't press well in co-ordination, appearing very disjointed and incredibly easily to play through on the counter/at a quick tempo when attempting to press. We don't track runners very well. And the players are a bunch of fucking pussies.

Valencia at RB for a start. His crosses were created for Zlatan head, Darmian rushes out of position a lot but doesn't pose any real attacking threat.

We also need a talisman in midfield. An Iniesta, a De Bruyne, an Ozil. We have no midfielder/winger who can create chance after chance consistently. Martial has gone missing this season and Mkhitaryan died during the transfer window. Look at every big team, they have a player who everything flows through. Arsenal have Ozil, City have De Bruyne, Liverpool have Coutinho, Barca have Iniesta, Madrid have Kroos, PSG have Di Maria, Bayern have Ribery, Napoli have Insigne.

Who do we have? Carrick? Pogba isn't that kind of player.

A leader.

Rooney scored that goal and turned around and jogged back up the pitch. As a captain he should be encouraging the players around him. Disgraceful imho. When we got a corner then a free kick near the end Mata was frantically waving his arms telling everyone to get forward. Rooney should be doing that but his hunger has gone.

This. Funny thing is that the Canadian French commentators on my broadcast mentioned how Roy keane used to shout his teammates to go for more after a goal that puts the team back in business, which is something that was nowhere to be seen with Rooney.

He can fuck off to MLS or China as far as I'm concerned. I cannot take it anymore with him.

I think the lads are truly lacking leadership. Mourinho's distractions have not helped the locker room morale at all and to top it off, the same fifteen guys are playing regularly without rest. While we've got raw talent on the bench. Yeah this isn't something that can be fixed quickly, or even without trial and error, but something's gotta give. They're not playing like a team and Rooney's goal today proved just that.

We need to play without Rooney. Arguably better off with 10 men.

We shouldn't have to rely on 19 and 20 yr old strikers as our two main wingers

We need to stop relying on Blind at CB.

Could do with a proper DM of carrick's stature, we should probably be playing Carrick more.

Seriously? Dortmund are probably superior or equal to United when comparing most players, excluding goalkeepers.

Regarding whom United are lacking, I think they need a world-class CB to partner Bailly, a world-class CM to partner Pogba and to offload Ibrahimovic & Rooney so that Rashford and Martial can be the main strikers.

Well the go to option is... Time (for the: players to click, get used to the system, get used to the league, get used to the pressure etc), but then we've heard that for 3 years.

Who knows man. I'll keep supporting them as I've done since I was a little kid, but at this stage I'm done analysing it. 3 managers haven't been able to figure it out so who knows.

If I were to have a guess from professional experience I'd say there's an institutional issue. I can't see how we'd rotate through managers and staff like we've done and maintain such consistency in mediocrity without one.

We need a manager the players believe in. To make them believe in themselves. The quality is there, but there's no execution.

We won't have a legendary manager, probably ever again. Nobody who doesn't have a really high belief in himself would take this job. It's a managerial nightmare, where they call for you to be beheaded after one game that is not won.

a aggressive, confident striker who wants to take the game to the opposition and take them all on.

city have aguero, arsenal have sanchez, chelsea have costa, tottenham don't really have striker like that but the rest of their team is like that, and the victims have Sturridge, coutinho and firminwho

I'm still backing Mou to come good for us, but seriously, at what point do we start considering that he might actually just be past it? He may have won the League 2 years ago but the League was a lot weaker back then.

I see People talking about the '' shit '' mentality of the players and how they don't give a fuck out there, yet all i'm seeing is them getting pissed when Things aren't working out for them. Keep in mind Chelsea fans were saying the same Things after their 3-0 loss to Arsenal, about how none of the players cared and we all know what happened after that.

I don't think Mourinho should be completely judged until the end of the season, but it's stupid that People questioning him and his tactics/man-management are getting downvoted for doing so.

That seems to be THE answer, but what about Conte for example? He is in for the job just as long as Mou but when I look at Chelsea I can see a clear cut difference
