There'll be Some Changes Made (self.bikemessengers)

Hey everybody,

I'm hoping we can make some changes here in the sub. It's become kind of a bullshit place where there's a ton of shit posting. I want this to be a community. I know I've been absent, but we can make /r/bikemessengers great again. I've already started cleaning house.

I've updated the side bar. I've listed the top threads in this sub for Bags, Essentials, and Maintenance. Before posting your questions on gear, please take a look towards the side bar. My aim here is to cut down on shit posting and stupid questions, as there are now some great resources.

Anybody want to make use of the Wiki? We have one. Right now it's not enabled, but we can enable it if we think there's a potential use for it.

Sound off and let me know what you would like to see.

Maybe there is just a fundamental disagreement over what this should be. Some people would like this to be a place were people can talk about messenger shit with other messengers, like a giant standby spot in space. This would include things like making fun of rookies and often times, each other. Thats the kind of people we are. And some nerds think that this should be a place to ask stupid fucking questions about bullshit that you are too scared to ask a messenger in real life because someone like u/oceanofblood might take his chain lock off and spin it right in your fucking face.

This is a community of nearly 2400 users. Of course there will be myriad opinions. First and foremost, this is a community and a resource. There was nothing like this when some of us started.

If you have a question and you want to check out what gear is tried and true, then check out the side bar. If you've absolutely exhausted the search function, then make a new thread.

I'm all for shooting the shit, and there's nothing wrong with that. The only things I've forbidden going forward are asking questions about gear and threatening violence. I've updated the rules of the sub to reflect this.

There are a lot of things that might be scary about being a messenger. None of which should be /u/oceanofblood; that guy's a pussy.
