Over and over again, the rank and file would say, "So Trump used a baby as a human shield. Was anyone hurt? HILLARY KILLS PEOPLE."
If Trump came out and did something like openly advocated slavery, it wouldn't end his campaign. It would force his followers to justify it.

Some of them would do so eagerly. Others would do so reluctantly. Each of them, having crossed one more line, would cross the next easier.

If 2016 has taught me to loathe anything, it's the "DESTROY" style of clickbait. "Watch as Donald Trump is DESTROYED by an adorable corgi."

We want it to be that simple. One shocking atrocity snaps everyone out of it. One witty rejoinder proves our case. One video destroys evil.

Actual Hitler rose to power on the back of multiple atrocities. People ignored them, or went along with them.

Trump has discussed sexual assault, encouraged terrorism and voter intimidation, suggested the polls be overturned with violence.

None of these things ended his campaign. None of them stripped away his base.

None of them made him markedly less of a credible candidate than a woman who something something rhubarb mumble grumble email.

@alexandraerin really sad part is if trump was like Hitler knowing what Hitler has done and having done the same he would still have voters -
