One common sentiment in this subreddit I think is that you guys tend to generalize.
Alright, just imagine yourself being born into Tunisia in 201 BC.
For your entire childhood, you are fed myths like the "delenda est" like millions of Carthaginians. Also, you grew up relatively poor, which you, like millions of Carthaginians blamed on the defeat of the Punic war. Overall, your childhood sucked because you grew up into a place of defeatism and desolate.
Then, suddenly a man comes up and promises to change everything. He promises to restore your city-state. Of course in doing so, he also feeds you plenty of lies (Romans are bad e.g). Remember, the temple at the time isn't like now. You basically think what the council tells. Would you have joined him? Like thousands did at the time in great numbers? Remember, the Carthaginian army had over 200 000 people serving in all terms. You cannot call 200 THOUSAND people evil. That is pure generalization.
My point is that one cannot generalize the Carthaginian Army as inherently "evil" because it was joined by hundreds of thousands of people. We know from human nature that people tend to join organizations that to them seem "right" and possess the moral high ground. By calling the Carthaginians evil, you are calling humanity evil.
