Does Man Utd resemble Liverpool of 90ies or Real Madrid of 2000? (self.reddevils)

I see a lot of comments that United is Liverpool of 90ies but I liken the current state to Madrid's first decade of 21st century more.

What do you think?

More Madrid than Liverpool atm. Buying big names to get back to where we were.

Let's just wait and put the pitchforks down though and support the club/manager either way.
