36,576 Redditors Trick or Treating for 8 Years
It's that time of the year again, the little shits come running up your front garden screaming "TRICK OR TREEAAATT" demanding that you put some candy in their bag which is already full of an assortment of sweets. There is no doubt that when they are all eaten that the kid will almost certainly end with Type 2 Diabetes. If you are still unsure as to what time of the year I am referring to, I am talking about Halloween!
Normally Halloween is great fund for Adults and children alike, whilst the children get a rush from sugar highs the adults get a rush from other sorts of highs.... But this year, is a sad year, a year where the adults wont be able to enjoy Halloween as much as children; this is because this year Halloween is on a Monday. A fucking Monday, so unless you want to be turning up at work with a hangover you can't enjoy Halloween as much as an Adult. So instead, why not help kids enjoy their Halloween more? Help them out with their costumes and stock up on some sweet treats to give out! Make their Halloween a fun one!
Costumes are arguably the centrepiece of Halloween, it is what the whole event is about, dressing up in scary, odd or just downright hilarious costumes is where for me personally the majority of fun in Halloween comes from! And it seems /r/Halloween is no different, the majority of content there is sharing badass costumes or decorations. So if you are sat here reading this and wondering... How can I make the most of my Halloween? Then head on over to /r/Halloween!
1. What is your favourite thing about Halloween?
stophauntingme: Attending haunts (usually on camping trips) during the month. Also, I never thought I'd say this, but I love it when Halloween falls on a week day so adults can have the best of both worlds: enjoy the Halloween festivities scheduled on the weekend and help kids have a magical Halloween on the week day.
2. What are some good last minute, easy to make at home costume ideas for any redditors who are yet to have found one?
stophauntingme: First, leaving your Halloween costume to the last minute is unspeakable. That said, both men and women can do a lot with just makeup. Especially cheap makeup sold at your local convenience store chain tends to have a lot of wacky colors that you could play around with and come up with something.
3. What will you be going dressed as for this Halloween?
stophauntingme: I was going to be a robot this year but the robot leggings couldn't be shipped to me in time, so instead I picked up a glow-in-the-dark skeleton bodysuit that just arrived yesterday. Combined with my glow-in-the-dark makeup, I'm hoping it'll make a pretty cool impression.
4. What is the best costume that you have seen shared to /r/Halloween?
stophauntingme: The costume posts usually come in after Halloween in November, so I'll cite a couple from last year; this is still really difficult though, haha. Here's an impressive terrifying one and not terrifying but super impressive nonetheless!
5. What advice would you give to redditors going out to celebrate halloween tonight?(EVEN THOUGHT IT IS ON A MONDAY GOD-DAMMIT)
stophauntingme: Since Halloween is on a Monday this year, my advice would be (to the adults, as I think it's mostly adults on Reddit) "focus on the kids." Help make their Halloween magical for them like it (hopefully) was for you when you were their age. Dress up for them just as well as you dressed up at the party/parties you went to this past weekend (assuming it's appropriate haha) - I guarantee you they'll be more flatteringly appreciative of your costume than your friends (who have seen so many costumes in their lives already) were. But also, if you're not doing much at all, at least answer your door and perhaps have a nice thing to say about each kid's costume: make them feel happy and excited to be participating in the holiday :)
Happy Halloween to you all and I hope you have a great night..... even though it is a monday.
