This is a FINAL FANTASY. from the most respected RPG makers ever. Bow down. serious "It's like the water is TRYING to exist!" |
I have an idea.. Lets remake FF VII like the fans have been begging for for decades but completely alter the battle system and make it episodic.... you know because just redoing it and keeping things simple is never enough. FF XIII sold more on the PS3 alone than FF VI sold on the Snes, Ps, mobile, Pc, and GBA combined. Suck it elitist! Oh and Riki still sucks in battle! |

And they already said each episode will be like a full game. And the new battle system is permanent. I don't foresee a switch to turn base in the future for square. It's just not recognized anymore. and that's fine. I love it. It's a love letter to play games like bravely default and such. I hope we get a third entry on the switch. The Witcher 3 is pretty cool "So if Nier is a puppy someone threw out, this will be a puppy with revengeance?" -ilikeikeilikeik |
To be fair Tabata sorta compared it to witcher. Though he was talking about taking Witcher's dlc and patching style and trying to emulate that. But giant open world rpgs with item crafting and realistic graphics? They're going to draw comparrisons...until it releases and people realise nothing is close. MgsV has more in common with Witcher than XV to me so far. VanilleHopen posted... I have an idea.. Lets remake FF VII like the fans have been begging for for decades but completely alter the battle system and make it episodic.... Don't see how that relates to the topic in any way. Also they're doing pretty much exactly what I've wanted for the remake since AC released (minus the episodic aspect, but if done right I won't mind that either). |
VanilleHopen posted... you know because just redoing it and keeping things simple is never enough. Right! Redo it and keep it simple! Just like how it worked for Star Wars Episode VII. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miVRaoR_8xQ Ohhhhhhh... B-but... box office records! And money! People spent money on it! And said it was good... (for a while, until the hype and the member berries died down.) Actually, Vanille, to be more serious, I am kinda with you. Sometimes, straight-up remakes need to be made. The only useful thing I've ever seen a remake do, though, is convince people that "the original was better" thus quelling people's demands to see a remake. EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, remakes can wind up surpassing the original. Resident Evil Remake and Another Metroid II Remake come to mind. ...I guess remakers just kind of mess it up more often than not, because it's just such a tough thing to do. It's only done successfully when even the biggest fans of the original admit to deep flaws in it. For FFVII, that flaw generally means graphics. And of course, there are already graphics-enhancement mods that can be installed on the PC versions of the game, making the game look perfectly presentable. (edited 11 hours ago) |
I think the comparison comes from the fact that SE themselves have said that the witcher 3 is the biggest inspiration for this game. They played that game a lot and there are a lot of elements borrowed from that game. For example, cooking reminds me of the alchemy system of the witcher 3 whereby potions buff geralt's various attributes. The npcs are also structured in a similar manner. There are a lot of similarities but I can't remember all of them. |
You forgot the /s |
Boojie posted... VanilleHopen posted...you know because just redoing it and keeping things simple is never enough. I still like Episode VII a lot. Sure it rehashed a lot from episode IV, but it changed enough that made it still feel fresh. As a villain I like Kylo way more than Darth. But since the 90's I've had issues with villains who are evil just Because they're the bad guy, and that's how Darth was portrayed (until episode VI). As for remakes in general it really depends. West World right now is an episodic remake of the old movie and so far is pretty great. Different but great. Ocean's 11 with George Clooney and Brad Pitt was a fun remake that I personally liked more than the original with Sinatra. Etc. some old game remakes are great compared to older ones. But sometimes it's thrown off a bit with reboots as opposed to remakes. Mortal Kombat 9 was both in a sense. It rebooted the franchise but was a remake of story aspects from MK1-3. |
