Been threatened with being fired if I didn't work unpaid overtime after already doing so on a previous project the previous week.

Told them that then that was the way it would have to be. Boss came back and apologized because actually losing good workers is bad for business I guess.

My personal financial advice to you:

  1. Crypto currency (My favorite: Dash).

  2. Stock index funds (biotech and vanguard S&P500).

  3. Some physical silver/gold in your own safe.

  4. An emergency/daily fund in ready money/cash/bank account.

I still don't get the crypto currency. Not saying it is bad, but my ignorance keeps me from trusting it. If the shit hits the fan, and internet is turned off or massively controlled as to what you can access, wont it all just evaporate? Seems better to invest in something more tangible that you can get your hands on quickly if need be.

It's good if your trying to hide it from an ex wife

A storage locker can just as easily hide stuff too.

I have both. With enough ready cash to flee the country on short notice.

The internet was literally designed by DARPA to survive nuclear war.

All crypto currencies are hosted on thousands of computers so even wiping out a whole continent would have no effect.

Total control of the internet is also basically impossible because people would just switch to another DNS system.

In total disaster you are right: Silver, food, water, medicin and guns are better, but for anything less crypto is great.

In fact right now it will likely protect me in my ongoing divorce as they can't take my crypto assets nor even prove I have them.

An easy thing to play with would be the PC Dash client: https://www.dash.org/binaries/Electrum-DASH-2.4.1-Windows-setup.exe

That said of course you should diversify.

I will need to understand more before i would install anything. But thanks for the link. I will peruse their website to see if it can help me understand better. A quick question please.

For those who lose access to their wallets and never can access their money ever again. Is that forever doomed to be dead money in the system or is there some kind of overseers/superusers who at some point get the money?

Such money would be gone. Might as well be shot into the sun.

For large amounts it is recommended to create encrypted paper wallets with multiple copies printed so that the loss of one is not a big deal: https://walletgenerator.net (use the "paper wallet"-tab)
