Sorry, but I'm not going to impose this rule. For one thing, I think it's an untenable. Tons of stories about beer and posts on /r/beer relate to politics. Beer can be a political issue. If these posts annoy you, I suggest making use of the hide button (or turn on the downvote and hide option in preferences).

On top of that, this rule would push mods to make too many decisions about political issues. I'd much rather have users control content and keep the subreddit open for discussion.

However, we're going to be more aggressive about locking threads that get out of hand and removing reposts and bad comments (hate speech, insults, etc.). Also, we'll do what we can about brigading, but it's hard to identify all but the most obvious people.

It's amusing how much you pretend to hate "hearing about this shit", when in reality your Reddit comment history is almost entirely a series of very angry posts on politics and culture wars -- including in this subreddit! -- e.g., calling other users political shills, how much you hate feminism, etc.

In my experience, people who cry "I'm sick of politics" almost universally are merely sick of hearing people they disagree with.

It's the same as those "I don't do drama" people.

Seriously. I've noticed that "I hate drama" is pretty much just another way of saying "I'm the most dramatic person you'll meet."

The problem is where do you draw the line? Posts about laws about brewing are political.

Don't like it? Don't read it.

Are you saying that people should start some sort of...boycott?

Posts about laws about brewing are political.

Not just that, but the weekly "fuck this brewer for selling out to a giant corporation" thread also inevitably descends into politics.

Downvote it

Not too hard to just scroll past it, like I do with the countless "brewery that distributes to 35 states expands distribution to one more state" threads.

Hang in there buddy! It's almost over. I was so wearied when it finally leaked in here. You literally can't get away from it. I had to leave a bakery because of it last week. A bakery!

I've got a better idea: why not implement some sort of voting system where subscribers to this sub can decide which posts warrant attention?

I'm for it, though it'll resolve itself as I think we have 11 days left.

Just a ban on the election would be fine. I'm here for beer, the election has it's own subreddits.

Although I think part of America's problems stem from woefully uninformed voters, who watch 5 mins of CNN and then tell everyone it's their right to be free from policital talk because it's boring/offensive.... this is one of the few times I'd be behind it. I don't want to read 50 articles about trump/yuengling I just want to hear about beer.

Politics are like my colon, they leak into everything.

Political posts are fine if a politician is running on a policy that would specifically affect the breweries. So far nothing I've seen is like that.
