Fuck The Coalition for gouging me with prices and ruining all sense of progression in multiplayer by locking everything behind a lottery paywall.

Fuck your trash servers for making me wait 5 minutes and then timing me out on every playlist that isn't social.

Fuck your core damage bases that water down the game in an attempt to appeal to the mainstream shooter audience.

Fuck you for your uninspired skins, fuck you for making Horde ONLINE ONLY, and fuck you for turning me away from my favorite game franchise of all time.

I've been playing the Gears of War franchise for 10 years now, loyally buying all its content and it was always worth it. Now it's almost like Gears caught the eye of some corporation and they thought to themselves "Oh yeah, we could buy this and squeeze WAY more money out of the community".

Anyway, I realize it's only been out for 3 weeks, but I don't give a fuck. I feel betrayed as a loyal follower of the series and I know other companies will be happy to take my money and do it right.

I'm out, The Coalition can eat shit.

Totally agree. I am playing less and less lately, distracted by Battlefield and soon to be Titanfall (Which is doing DLC the RIGHT way). Gears for is to me, an otherwise perfect game. The campaign hit all the right notes for me and I really enjoy Horde Mode. But all this micro transaction bullshit is just really unreasonable. Even Halo 5's Req packs aren't this bad. Overall this coulda been a 10/10 game if they weren't pushing these damn packs so hard. It's almost as if they haven't even heard the complaints. I mean all the outrage over the E-Sports packs and then the stupid Halloween packs a week later. At least communicate with the fans. Their community manager is doing a shit job of being a go between. I want them to justify to me why they are doing what they are doing. Just open up an honest dialogue. Hell, even a straight up apology would go a LONG way, at least to me. Having the balls to stand up, eat crow, and say "Hey guys, we fucked up. Sorry" would mean a lot.

General Raam wasnt introduced to GoW3 untill like 4 months later... And the only way they could include him is if they brought a DLC pack like GoW2 where it was the Flashback Map pack where it includes old maps/characters. That'd be the smart thing to do imo.

The packs are kind of a rip off with the drop rates but as a whole the game is solid and something that really is as small as the pack thing shouldn't ruin the game for anyone imo. Sure I like the skins and everything but I play to get better and have fun. The drop rates and packs will get fixed I'm positive of that.

I would say general consensus is it's an awesome game. If you're playing for skins and unlockable cosmetics you'll be frustrated. But the gameplay is fantastic, smooth, consistent (never will everyone agree the shotgun is consistent). I love it.

They only thing I'm concerned about is TTK in core and the playlist structure. The game is starting to become really campy because whoever comes out of cover first is the one to die. It wasn't like that in Gears 3. Either fix Core balancing or give us a "social" playlist with competitive weapon tuning

It's up to you really, I think it's great and I've have been playing gears since the first gears launch. It's a great addition to the franchise and the multiplayer is great. All gears games had annoying frustrating bullshit when it came to the online multiplayer so I don't know why everyone is bitching. The bitching about the microtransactions is way overboard. I haven't spent any money in the in game store at all. You have some patience the credits system is fine. I rarely buy games in general anymore but feel like it was worth the price. Also get it on Xbox cause I don't have any problems finding matches in any of the modes. PC is dead apparently

I have a feeling this game will be fantastic 6 months from now. The game is unbalanced but it has all the pieces to be the best Gears yet. They are going to fix the hammerburst in the next update but there are other things they need to address which are just as important. The TTK in core is way too fast and the playlist structure is terrible. They should really just use competitive weapon balance for everything or give us more competitive modes.

To be honest op is a bit of a whiney bitch and is over exaggerating many points , complaining about fun skins/cosmetics/bonus we are not really entitled to anyway, and also not mentioning T.C. has already addressed they are working on some of said issues.

The game is awesome and if you haven't already purchased it i kind of wonder about your love for the series to begin with.

No. It's still a good game. TC is really falling short on how they are handling micro transactions is all. Any issue with game servers and shit is expected because it still is a new game.

Seems to me OP is frustrated cuz the game was perfect from the get go and he can't just buy the skin he wants and doesn't want to try and craft it.

The points have been made. One point is its ONLY been 3 weeks. Title updates take a while to do otherwise the problems won't ever get fixed.

Patience and understanding is required has a consumer too. The op is has a point but is being immature about addressing it.

Amen dude. Been around since 06 but enough is enough. I bought it digitally for cross buy when I build my PC, so the game isn't going anywhere for me. I absolutely love it, but would I have bought it at $60 not at all. Absolutely absurd with what's happening. Logged into halo 5 today and got 4 legendary items and 1 ultra rare. Compare that to gears? Get fucked. Really disappointed with this nonsense.

This game has so many more issues than that.

  • DOA on PC, anything other than social versus is not playable

  • Core tuning is fucked, comp tuning should have been in every playlist

  • No offline horde, what in the fuck

  • Ranked games can and will start with unbalanced teams (2v5, 3v5)

  • Hammerburst is far and away the best starting gun in the game right now and desperately needs a nerf

  • Gnasher inconsistent pos as always

Am I the only player that thinks having an actual ranking system again is enough motivation for me to show "progression" in multiplayer? Not just cosmetics? I get that the drops are a little ridiculous but I'm much more excited about moving up the ladder in ranked than earning a weapon skin or new character.

This is the first Gears I've played so I'm in love. I've played Horde only so far, but I don't see what the fuss is really. It takes a ton of time, which sucks, but it's really fun. I don't care about character skins or weapon skins. I just want those cards.

Personally, I haven't noticed a big problem with the skins. The game is pretty playable without ever buying DLC. The skins are cool but don't add much to the game. Unless you play for only the rank or a specific skin, the micro transactions don't change the game enough for it to be damaging to the experience. I'm a fan since gears 1 and outside of the long load times, I enjoy the game.

The campaign doesn't even use skins, so to start it's not the entire game. And you can earn most skins through packs or destroying things you don't like in packs and crafting instead. For free. The $60 supports the initial product that the team spent 2-3 years working on. No dev is going to remain tied to the project without some form of compensation via map packs or micros.

The alternative to subsequent payments is zero support, no updates and the entire team just moves on to Gears 5.

Anyone who complained about the price of maps shouldn't have been taken seriously. I used to do the math on Gears map packs. One of 2's packs was a sound 75 cents a map. Gears tended to be pretty affordable on map packs.

I think people are missing the point regarding microtransactions. The argument isn't against their existence, they were present in Gears 3 and I think the majority of players understand that they're keeping the DLC free for everyone this time around.

The issue is that EVERYTHING is unlocked via them, and earning them naturally is taking so long. Cosmetics are one thing, but why are Horde skills tied to a random system as well? Why can't we just buy the skins outright with money (like we could with some of the Gears 3 ones) instead of hoping and praying we get it in a box? The microtransactions could have been better implemented for sure.

completely different teams. Artists don't bug test or balance test I wouldn't think. Live team that pushes out store items doesn't either. And aside from HB or uneven teams I don't know what you mean by balancing issues. Which I'm pretty sure they are looking into, and have released detailed roadmaps for the next TU and beyond.

Everything I want is already in the game. I want competitive weapon balancing with rolling lobbies. I want to play either TDM, KotH, Guardian, Arms Race, or Dodgeball. I know I won't get all of that but give me ONE of those and I'm happy. Instead we get cosmetic DLC.

But the cosmetic DLC would have been made months ago. Packaged and ready to be deployed flawlessly (probably through an automated scheduled release) as soon as the clock hit 12 on whatever date. You are delusional if you think there's someone with the power to balance and/or fix a big that stops grinding away at code to spend 3 days whipping up some new dlc cash grab opportunity.

Do you see why that argument is pretty fucking dumb? Of course someone is working hard at fixing bugs. You don't patch AAA games with hotfixes ASAP for minor bugs and balancing issues. Nobody does that except MAYBE some indie games. It takes time, QA, more time, more testing, and then once it's solid they release it. There's no reason to halt all planned cosmetic releases and shop items just because a kids angry that the hammer burst TTK is a little fast. Get a grip.

You're giving up before they've even made their first real title update? Before they've even released any of the FREE maps? Also, you not finding matches in anything but social isn't a fault of the developers or the servers, it is a fault of the population on the platform you're playing on (PC).

The only valid complaint was about the skins unlocks, most everything else about the game is great. They've already addressed the problems that exist and that they're working on fixes. Play the game because it is fun, not because you want some skin that no one is going to actually give a shit about you having 2 seconds after they see you have it. The first Gears barely even had unlocks, everyone who played it played that game because it was fun as hell.

Core Competitive is nice (forgot which was which). I'm pretty okay with the weapon balance so far. Some people just can't stand the shotgun not being OP.

If you want OP shotgun, go play core. That's where they left it a little more deadly. Though I wish they would add other game modes to Competitive, like TD and KotH.

Im on the same boat. I find this game to be satisfactory. I don't feel it excels in any particular aspect, but it does deliver a satisfying campaign and a decent multiplayer, but what they continue to do with these Packs is absolutely ridiculous and insulting to their core players. Im totally fine with grinding if the rewards are adequate and worth while but the system in play right now is punishing and unrelentingly disappointing. This game is on hold for me. I plan on coming back, but until they update the rewards I'm going to continue leaving it simmer on the back burner.

I honestly don't get your point of this. Lotter paywall? You mean like it gives you a random amount experience? Well yeah that's fucked up indeed. I'm even playing Horde just for that reason. Gives everyone the same amount of experience and leveling up might actually even be faster there at this point...

I agreed on this, however I no longer have issues with it. Within a minute I keep finding a game and I no longer get booted. No clue where the issue lasts there.

I didn't even feel much of a difference to be honest. The Gnasher just sometimes seems to be wacky and the hitboxes seem to be screwed up and there still seems to be some kind of "host" still existing. I can even "feel" it if I look like being the host. My Gnasher suddenly kills enemies from ranges I never imagined it could kill one (without active of course). And sometimes blood is spreading out of the enemy and after a second you die and it still shows 0% dmg done. :3

Skins are uninspiring indeed. I'm also pissed from Horde being ONLINE ONLY. I once couldn't connect to the Gears server and I literally couldn't do anything (was through the campaign stuff already).

I have more of an issue that those Rockstar thingies are once again country limited, so you need contacts to get to the codes. -.- Actually what would even piss me off more (now I'm glad it doesn't really matter), if those packs would be worth it, the fucking Halloween Pack isn't even available in Switzerland! We just can't buy it. I don't know what TC did wrong there but yea... thinking of that I'd be a "fan" of those packs, it would fucking piss me off. Even the Germans can buy them and there Gears once used to be an illegal game I mean like waaat? I assume it's a currency issue.

Nothing that can give you an edge over other players requires an additional purchase.

I have such a bad experience playing core I am seriously having to ask myself if it is healthy to keep playing this. I played 5 matches of koth today and 3 games a teammate left immediately, the other 2 matches I had teammates who absolutely do not belong in a match with me against a full team of players all ranked higher than me.

Ranked just seems broken, and I cannot play in the social playlist. Its hard because the game COULD be fun, but for me right now it consistently isn't. At least if I could unlock something good in a crate every so often amirite?

I can't stand this sub. It's overrun by whining kids with no patience or understanding of how game industries work. It took me two weeks to earn the skins I wanted for free. Didn't roll them in chests. Just destroyed shit I didn't want. 2 weeks for my favorite gear sets. That's almost too fast IMO.

I've been with the franchise from day 1 - but this game has been out of control with the MT's, poor servers, god awful gnasher inconsistency, broken MM on PC, etc.

I played the hell out of the game but with the release of BF1 and Titanfall 2 - I doubt I'll be spending much more time on Gears.

I miss the days where I just searched for Warzone, 19 rounds, Raven Down, 1 min rounds, and everyone just gnasher rushed. No one gave a flying fuck about their K/D, camping, or any other asinine bullshit you see now a days. The toxicity of recent MP gaming has permeated into Gears (no, I don't mean people cursing, screaming, raging, etc. I love that shit - it makes Gears, well Gears).

Unfortunately, it seems all of the big release games are moving towards this model. You can pitchfork them all you want but here is the bottom line:

Until all gamers can unite and protest these MTs with their wallets and not their voice - every dev will continue to practice this behavior. Look, they are a company and here to make money. Why look away from a possible lucrative opportunity, right? Blame the jabronis that drop hundreds or thousands of dollars on the MTs.

My problem with the skins is that you don't get any skins for accomplishing anything other than playing the beta, when i saw someone in Gears 3 with a gold gnasher I knew that they were probably going to be exceptionally good because of how hard it was to get to level 100 in GoW 2, additionally the onyx medals were a sick way of showing some of your accomplishments. Now its all, "well that person has got a sick skin, they're either lucky or stupid for spending money."
