Scribble all over your desk with a lamp designed to inspire lightbulb moments.
About this project
Get your Drew and start scribbling...
Drew pays homage to the humble pencil, hovering over your surfaces as if held by an invisible hand and doodling straight into your computer or wall socket.
Combining form and function, Drew is clever design that aims to inspire and light up your world. ONLY to be found right here on Kickstarter.
Create an inspiring studio space and be the envy of your co-workers with Drew lighting up your desk and your imagination. With 2m of cable to play with, what will you do with your Drew?
Drew is a lamp for everyone to enjoy. From creative professionals, to curious kids, for those wanting to wake up & go to sleep inspired, to those simply looking for a conversation starter.
Drew is made just like a traditional pencil, but on a grander scale. Our focus was to create a lamp that would bring a room a sense of funand whimsy while also produce something highly designed and meticulously engineered.
We’ve spent hours agonising over how to create a seemless transition from stand to lead... in the the end we created a bit of engineered magic.
We wanted to create a unique way to switch on your Drew, and we wanted it to be inspired by the beginning of the creative process. Picking up a pencil. The dimming function allows you to twist a little for a subtle light, or twist a lot for a more intense illumination.
We’ve enlisted the help of an award winning industrial design studio to help turn Drew into a premium product, that’s authentic to our original idea and able to be scaled up to large volume production.
In addition to the original yellow Drew the Pencil Lamps, we are all offering the below rewards...
Limited Edition Black Drew
Exclusive numbered Drew. Only available to 20 backers.
Original Giant HB Lamp165cm tall awesome Pencil Lamp.
Customised HB Lamp.Choice of colour, finishing and type.
Unlock new colours.
If we are lucky enough to reach 100K we will be able to provide new colour options for Drew. But which colours? That will be up to you and the rest of our backers :)
We need capital to help pay for manufacturing set up costs and for the minimum quantity orders needed to create Drew.
By BACKING and SHARING this campaign, you’ll help bring a little more creativity to the desks of the world and hopefully inspire some more lightbulb moments.
It’s been a lengthy journey to get here. We’re taken the time to SHARPEN and perfect every element. We now have everything lined up and ready to go.
Upon reaching our funding goal, our expert industrial design team at Designworks are ready to move straight into refining Drew with final prototyping and certification and then hit the GO button with their manufacturing team in Shenzhen.
We will then move straight into fulfilment and delivery and again we’ve DRAWN on experience from those in the know.
We have experience previously fulfiling projects outside Kickstarter so we know what a headache it can be for the unititiated. That’s why we’ve brought in an expert Kickstarter fullfilment house, Floship. They’ve even given us a fancy shield to use.
Husband & wife team Michael & George launched their debut 'Stationery Objects' product range during the London Design Festival in 2014.
With a whimsical approach to reimagining everyday objects, the range captured the world's imagination with their products being featured globally by influential publications, blogs, galleries and even the store windows of fashion designer Anya Hindmarsh internationally. The HB Lamp was named as part of Fast Company's The Best Lighting Design Of 2014.
In 2015 Michael & George (and their baby boy Frankie) moved their concept driven studio from East London back to their hometown of Sydney, Australia, where they have since added another baby boy named Quinn and baby Pencil Lamp called Drew.
Risks and challenges
Although we have dotted every 'i' and crossed every 't', there is always the risk of the manufacturing process throwing a few curve balls that may cause small delays. We are confident that we've mitigated most risk from the process.
