With Bailly out for 2 months and then almost surely off to the AFCON do you think we need to go out and sign someone? Blind is the obvious normal choice to come in but I'm personally still not sold on Rojo and we can't rely on Jones.

I think we could do with bringing someone in, no need to spend loads on someone but we were linked with Fonte for a decent price in the summer. I'd be happy with going for someone like that, some experience at the back would be very welcome.

Any ideas?

TFM and Tuanzebe are the options as well. IMO we don't need some backup CB. If anything, we need top top CB - if this is not the case then we should wait till summer.

I agree. If we were to splash out on a new centerback, it should be a leader of the defence. Someone who can direct the backline - preferably someone vocal as well (this is where Blind falls short). Otherwise I don't see why we shouldn't use our academy players instead.

Fosu-Mensah is not a center-back he is a central defensive midfielder.

He used to play as a CB too so he IS the option

I think Smalling and Blind will be the chosen pairing. Injury to one of those could see Carrick or Rojo moving into CB. Not sure we need to buy.

No terrible idea and a waste of money. We have rojo, mr glass, and darmian. We can save money by getting players like fonte and Thiago silva on frees or save it on someone like Virgil van dijk in the summer.

In my opinion, I would go back for Michael Keane. I've seen a couple of his games this season, and he has been absolutely phenomenal at the back.

I would not mind using Carrick. he is solid at CB.

We need to stop fucking playing players out of position to do a job!

For all the talk from Mourinho in the beginning of the season about wanting specialists, we sure do have a bunch of players putting in a shift at the wrong position. Rashford as an RM/RWB, Valencia at RB, Herrera in holding midfield, Blind at left-back. It's just unacceptable.

If Mourinho doesn't want to play Tuanzebe because of his age, then that means we will only ONE healthy, active CB until late February (because even when Bailly comes back he has to go to AFCON). Blind is not a natural center back and neither are Rojo or Carrick. We absolutely will need to invest in one if Tuanzebe is not called up. I'm not sure why we didn't complete the transfer for Fonte for coverage in the summer.

It's not like Bailly is dead. What are we going to do with the centre back when we're back up to strength? We have decent enough options. If someone is available that's decent who won't mind being sat on the bench in the future then sure, I can't think of any better than the options we have though.

Rotate him? We're in 4 different competitions right now, you can't play the same center-back pairing every match. Bailly even looked fatigued in the Chelsea game.
