During last year's federal Canadian election, I chatted up some old acquaintances on Facebook to check to see if they were registered to vote a few days before early voting was opened. One guy hadn't participated in politics beforehand but I was able to motivate him to cast an early ballot.

However, he felt inspired by voting that he ended up recruiting 5 of his friends who had never voted before to also go out and vote against the Conservative Party (former governing party).

That simple short chat started a snowball effect which wouldn't have been possible if I got him to vote on election day. Encouraging your friends to vote early can make a big difference!
