(Discussion) System and formation (self.reddevils)

So throughout the season we have had ups and downs with how the team is working and the formation that we are using. But how can we get the best out of our players especially since some of our players like Pogba and Fellaini are sometimes lost and struggle to perform in games.

I don't think I've seen us perform well when both pogba and fellaini play together. That'd be a big start for me, they don't suit each other's style and it tends to lead to a negative game. We really are crying out for an anchor in midfield, there isn't a go to guy to pull the strings from deep. Carrick an obvious choice but seems to be out off favour.

We need to play with an attacking mid that links the play of the midfield and attack. We can't rely on Pogba to be that creative spark and defensive stalwart.

In my personal opinion I think we should play with one DM (Ander/Carrick) and CM (Pogba on the left and Not fella on the right)

Now our attack is where it gets tricky. Martial needs to be on the left (or Memphis/young as backup) also would like to see Ibra (or Rashford) playing as ST, and rooney (yes rooney) on the right cutting inside with Tony overlapping. Rooneys work rate would provide cover and press. When legs get tired, I think bringing Lingard on for him would be great. I know I'm leaving Mhki out - but he needs to show me something before he warrants a discussion.

Our style of play needs to change based on the opposition. When Jose wants to attack his teams put up goals so I'm not worried about creating chances cuz we are doing that. Our defense needs help. I think it's due to playing such a high line. We have the speed to do so but we don't have the discipline.

Tldr - three man midfield with MC at def mid. Rooney on the right, and never have Rashford on the wing. Defense needs to sit back more and absorb pressure not try and get into a foot race.
