[Discussion] Strongest first XI (self.reddevils)

With the awful result against Chelsea it's clear something needs to change , let's discuss our strongest formation and starting XI here.

Here's mine:

GK: De Gea - don't need to say anything about this one

RB: Darmian - now I think Valencia is better but you will see later why is Darmian playing

CB: Bailly and Smalling Our strongest center back pair , with Bailly's injury Blind to fill

LB: Shaw I think his pace is more effective on the left side from Daley Blind

CM: Carrick and Pogba Carrick to play a more defensive role to allow Pogba to be a box to box type of midfielder

RW: Valencia Our right wing is lacking and Lingard and Mkhitaryan aren't good enough for that position in my opinion and Valencia showed his form this season and I feel like with less defensive duties he would be a great winger to have

CAM: Mata not sure why he didn't start against Chelsea he's a beast and this is his best position

LW: Martial Need his pace on the left side him and Valencia would cause trouble in the attack

ST: Rashford Ibra didn't show anything against Chelsea and Rashford was decent but isn't showing his full potential on the wing . He plays a great poacher role in attack and that's what he should be. We should drop Ibra for now he can't play a full 90 minutes it seems anymore.

I want to hear your thoughts do you agree , what would you change?

Goalkeeper: De Gea

Defense:

           Valencia - Smalling - Blind - Shaw

  • Valencia because of his stamina, crosses and pace

  • Shaw because he is incredibly talented

  • Blind because I don't think there's enough 'footballing intelligence'(not sure what the English translation is) between Smalling and Bailly.

Midfield: 

                            Carrick

                 Herrera               Pogba

  • Carrick, I think in the future Blind may be able to replace him but we need his experience and ability to run the game.

  • I think that between Herrera and Pogba, there's enough stamina and intensity to be solid defensively in midfield.

Attack:

               Mkhitaryan                             Martial

                                 Ibrahimovic

  • Mkhitaryan, once he is fit, which is hopefully soon, he will be a very good player for us seeing what he did at Dortmund.

  • Martial, just look at last season, maybe he isn't at his best right now so maybe he should be replaced at the moment but he will get back to form soon.

  • With Valencia, Shaw, Mkhitaryan and Pogba, Ibrahimovic will get enough crosses to score goals. His hold-up play would also help Martial and Mkhitaryan.
