I saw recently that we are last in the league in terms of distance ran. Mourinho likes his defence to hold a rigid shape and he doesn't play the high pressing and running style that city, Liverpool and Spurs play

i agree with the pressing, when we press we either have to be like tottenham how if one player press the players behind him will also press; or like Liverpool, who use their Gegenpress where they rush as a group to press in stages towards the opposition on the ball and try to force them down the sides of the pitch, and look to win the ball back as soon as possible.

The thing about Mourinho's teams are than they tend to hang back in their own half and pack the box and then go on counter attack to score.

With the movement off the ball its good to have players like Herrera and Mata who naturally make good runs into the box and also try lures defenders into compromising areas to create space.

The reason why we are so bad on set pieces are that we don't have any big dominant attacking players who can go up and consistently win the ball, like a big targetman

Disclaimer: my knowledge on advanced tactics is also very limited..

As for pressing, I'm not entirely sure it's a major team tactic for us. We obviously don't press like liverpool who make it their number one focus. But during the game we have players that might recognize that we should press because of the position they're in. In previous games you could see Ibra do it a lot and coordinate with rooney and pogba. But if only one person is doing it like today then either mourinho told the team specifically not to press beyond a certain point, the team didn't find it beneficial to waste energy pressing in that situation, or the lack of coordination made it impossible to press effectively. We really don't know what the instructions were so it's probably just safe to say it comes from the team not really playing as a team quite yet.

As for the static movement. We've had this issue for the past 2 seasons with lvg. It was drilled repeatedly into them with his tactics and everything we did was terribly predictable. While our movement still may not be fantastic, it's miles better than it was. We did create a lot of chances today and really should've put a few away ourselves. It shows that we are actually improving in the attacking side of things.

As for being bad on set pieces, I really don't know what to tell you. Maybe we just don't have a great free kick taker. We really should be doing at least a little bit better in that department.

You're wrong about LVG drilling static movement into the players. He decried it himself as well.

It is way to static and no one really is making a run behind the defense.

I can recall some decent runs from today's game from Mata, Lingard and Ibra.

And yet there wasn't any counter tactics from our side to make a fast play.

Because Chelsea was in the lead from the 1st minute. How do you expect to counterattack them?
