This subreddit gets pretty toxic after a loss. Everyone is shit, nobody cares, poor tactics, why did Fellaini start, etc. Everyone is a pundit after losses

What matters now is the reaction. It's still early days and as plenty have pointed out, we're only 6 points behind. Other top teams are putting in poor performances and dropping points, too. Time will tell if this team is good enough to get back to the top, time will tell whether or not they deserve to. If they don't, that's too bad. We're not entitled to success, the team has to work for it. So if they can't, we'll enjoy the highs, suffer the lows, until the team is good enough to reach the top again. That's football.

I totally agree on the fatigue thing. We looked to ha e no gas or imagination from the outset. Not sure we were completely bottomed out but for sure less energetic than normal and Chelsea was on fire from the top. Looked much much fresher. City in 3 days is worrisome.

The Tevez analogy is perfect. I don't care how much you'd like to bleed for this club - the guys that do will forever be admired and loved by the fans and for the guys that don't atleast if you don't bleed for United then bleed for you, for your career and if that means bagging the goals, getting the assists or throwing yourself at someone, DO IT!
Zlatan can smile from now to kingdom come, he's the striker that needs service and if our piss poor midfield cannot give him the ball and he can't score then fuck 'em. Guy was dropping deep today and doing his part.

I haven't gotten to watch the game yet, but from what I've read comment wise here, it seems like we were just playing lazily. I'm thinking specifically of the hazard goal (I've only gotten to watch replays right now). Were we THAT lackadaisical the whole game?

That post about Zlatan smiling really shows what a bunch of fucking children football fans can be sometimes. They want players to jump around and get angry and throw tantrums at the end of a big loss because that's what we as fans do, and we think that things like that show passion. Why do we attack players like Costa for doing the same thing then? Why do we make fun of other players and managers for being sore losers? Not throwing a temper tantrum doesn't mean you don't have passion; it just means you're not a fucking child.

Why is this being downvoted? You had some really solid points

If nothing else they spend an ungodly amount of time practising football because they're contractually obliged to do so...

I have full confidence that they want to win the league, but whether they want it enough, or believe that they can is a different point entirely. Although I agree with a lot of what you're saying this club has had a problem for 3 years and 3 different managers now, not to mention hundreds of millions of pounds spent on so called superstars. We're collecting poor performance records like kid's participation trophies, and it's at a stage in which it's almost looking like we have some institutional inability to perform. Fans are going to get carried away after losses like this simply because we've been trapped in this nightmare for 3 years. I wasn't at the game today but I've never seen United supporters so resigned to poor performances.

Regarding Pogba being caught on the ball and his decision making in general that's been discussed all season (2nd half of the City game when Fernando was brought on is probably the best example - his play led to 2 solid counter attacks City should have put away). He did it a fair bit at Juventus as well - he often doesn't play the simple ball first time and gets himself into trouble. He'll learn.

I agree with the rest of it about today's match. We were rocked early, missed chances and couldn't recover.
