      I'm not saying Ibra is the problem, but he does limit us. Ibra is a player who works when he's being crossed at, he's not one to get behind the defence. Martial, Lingard and Rashford all like to cut inside. Mkhi is the only one who is of a cross first mentality, but we haven't seen anywhere near enough of him.

        Blind and Valencia aren't defenders.

        If you play a 3 man midfield you cannot have any passengers (fellaini) and you need good wide threats (we didn't) in order to vary your play.

            I don't even feel like it's lack of effort that cost us. It was a factor but giving a shit wouldn't have been enough. This game was crying out for Carrick imo. We couldn't pass for shit. And for some reason Mou decided Fellaini as a CF was a good idea.

            Plus at least with Rooney not starting, fans can identify problems and give criticism. Rather than him somehow taking 95% blame like he usually would.

                    Anyone who've followed Zlatan's career knows he's a player that looks inactive only to suddenly switch up gears when he gets involved.

                    I see people wondering why the fuck he doesn't look involved and doesn't make that one header chance he got this game (like the one against Liverpool). Instead, ask yourself why the fuck he's put in a position where he's hardly ever involved and where in a game, he gets more or less just one decent scoring chance.

                    Sad truth is that uniteds midfield does not link up in any meaningful way with either the defense or the offense. All build up is a joke. Zlatan is just as known for his insane assists, but he's never put in a position where anyone takes a run or links up. It's as if everyone expects that as soon as he gets the ball, he's supposed to miraculously finish by himself.

                    Did you see what happened when Fellaini went out and Mata came in? For 5 min or so, it was the best attacking football that united have had all game. Why? Cause Mata links up in ways Fellaini could only dream of.

                    There’s a fundamental problem with the club, the ethic to win is gone and now its just a cash cow.                             Against 3 centre backs we played 1 striker… Attack wise we have one option - play it into Ibra’s feet. We have no width -which is where we needed to focus against a 352 personally, into the channels between the wingback and centre backs or between the central and outer centre backs. When our attacking width constitutes Valencia/Lingard/Blind/Rashford for the most part of the game, what do you expect. Rashford is the only decent wide attacking player there and he was out of position on the left as a right footer which is immediately less of a threat.

                            Thats not even to mention the defending.

I think we need to change the midfield up since that's where the majority of our problems stem from.                             I don't want to take away from Chelsea's performance (which was very good) but all four of their goals were terrible mental errors from our players. Smalling was terrible for the first (De Gea and Blind were poor too), second (a number of players should really do better with the first goal) and fourth goals (Pogba was also poor just letting Kante run past him) and Mata just lets Hazard run off him for the third.

                            The more annoying thing for me was the fact that we offered little to nothing against a Chelsea defence which is prone to mistakes and who we had a distinct height and physicality advantage over.

                            There really is nothing positive to take out of this match, not a single player showed up and Mourinho's tactics left a lot to be desired, total shit.

                            I read in the match threads and some other people keep saying thing like we need to buy quality here and there, no we seriously don't. We already have one of the most if not the most expensive squad in the league, look at Leiceister last season or Liverpool this season who can do far more with far less.                             The early goal was crucial. Looking at the system we were trying to play in the first half, you notice how Pogba and Fellaini were playing in advance of our nominal wing-forwards (Rashford and Lingard). Our midfield were pressing all the way up while the wingers dropped back. I assume the plan was to exploit the spaces between their back three, force their wingbacks to drop in, and thus give our own wingers space to work. The early goal meant that Chelsea could be very compact with Kante and Matic, our entire midfield becomes ineffective, and the whole plan falls apart.
