There are a considerable amount of Republicans out there who are voting Trump simply because of the idea of 'loyalty to the party', or because they want Republican laws passed and Trump happens to be the Republican nominee, or maybe because they just dislike Hillary that much. These people are his voters (and voters only). They probably don't care for him that much (otherwise they'd be supporters), but they're going to go into the ballot box and vote for him come November 8th.
His supporters, however, are the people who like him as a person and support his policies- and by that, I mean not just the 'Republican' ones (ie, the wall and the Muslim ban). These people are the ones attending his rallies and wearing the MAGA getup. If they're bold and feel safe enough, they might have his sign in their front yard.
So when talking about Trump's followers, make sure you know who you're talking about. Don't insult the voters, because enough of them aren't racists and sexists that it would be a bad idea. The ones you're looking to insult are his supporters.
Thank you for your time. Have a nice day.
