Rashford is a better player although Iwobi looks promising too

I'm going to be a bit biased here, but I'm still going to side with Rashford on this. Both are excellent youngsters but Rashford edges Iwobi for me at least for now. He's stepped in very nicely for his age & lifted the team when we needed it the most (pulled us through in the EL match against Midtjylland, then again in the PL against Arsenal & City). And that was with a relatively mediocre team set up in classic LVG style on conservative mode.

Iwobi has talent & will make a great player eventually, but thus far he's enjoyed the benefit of having Sanchez, Ozil & more around him to lift his game. I would like to see how Iwobi would perform when the team is struggling or when he is selected alongside less established players, to see whether he can hold his own as Rashford can.

Could you possibly look to his Nigeria career as somewhere he plays with less established players? I know he scored for them over the break but did not watch.

Possibly, I haven't watched any of Nigeria's matches lately, so I would not rule out looking to his international career as a gauge. However, most of their recent fixtures have been against lesser opponents, so I would reserve my judgment despite him having scored.

And the fact that there are classic case studies such as Podolski & Vargas who have been prolific in their international career, but less spectacular in their club career, mean that it isn't always reliable to judge wholly on their performances at the international level.

Ultimately, he has to show that he can cut it & lift the team on his own as Ozil did for Arsenal in the past season or two. He should be fine if he is constantly getting guidance from his seniors & working hard on his game.

I think these comparisons are daft, both are very young and don't have enough minutes under their belts to able to compare consistency which is a huge factor when trying to rate a forward.

From the little time both have been around Rashford is scoring a lot more than Iwobi, 4 this season for example while Iwobi hasn't scored yet. After a full season however things could look very different.

Then there's also the fact that Rashford played a lot of games last year as Striker while Iwobi spent his time on the wing resulting in Rashford scoring a lot more and Iwobi assisting a bit more.

Honestly the only thing i can say for sure is that I find Rashford more exciting to watch, it's the same thing when people try to compare him with Iheanacho.

A bit unfair to compare the two at this stage, isn't it? Rashford is coming off a breakthrough season and is continuing to look promising/threatening. Iwobi hasn't gotten the same game time, etc.

I love watching Iwobi. He's so silky and smooth to watch. I don't think there is that much between the trio of Rashford Iwobi and Iheanacho.

Tbh when I watch arsenal I think Iwobi looks promising and class, compared to the fuss about Ineasomething who just taps in and does nothing in the game. Yet City fans try to make it look like you can compare him to the rise to stardom that Rashford experienced.

I find Rashford to be more creative with the ball and has a better first touch then Iwobi. I think Iwobi is more physical and is better at reading the game right now and therefore positionally at the right place to score a goal (he is more of a poacher than a creator).

I would never trade the two as in my opinion Rashford has better quality on the ball (dribble and passing, not to mention he can put in a good cross), the positioning, game reading, and physicality will come with age and experience (he's only 18 while Iwobi is 20).

Iwobi's touch is out of this world. Rashford is a smarter player, but Iwobi is more technical.
