There are some people (feminists mainly) who will take any gender statistic and either use it to 'prove' that women are being oppressed, or simply shrug it off as "men and women are different".
I've always found it interesting that two sides of an argument can use the same statistic to back up their view.
80% of the prison population is black. - "The system is treating blacks unfairly".
