"Most of the shit you hear on the internet is true" -Abraham Lincoln.

I've seen so many false quotes being upvoted lately, especially Einstein. It's so easy to check if a quotes is real or not just go to wikiquote.

Based Roosevelt

Roosevelt's bravado and non apologetic attitude might make him more hated than Trump in our modern world.

We need more Teddys and Trumps.

In what world is TR hated? I mean, sure, the guy had some pretty messed up views on imperialism. But he's most remembered for some massively important reforms and regulations that make him remarkably popular with liberals. Not to mention Trust Busting.

Considering the modern politicians' love affair with monolithic, monopolistic corporations, I don't think Trust Busting would be popular with today's establishment parties. I do think he paved the way for modern progressivism of the 20th century. But I am not sure out modern progressives believes in the same ideals.

Oh sure, if a president tried to do something similar today, both parties would be pissed. But those are politicians, TRs trust busting made him incredibly popular among normal people both conservative and liberal.

True. I only meant that if Teddy was in our world, he will face a lot of the same demonization tactics too. Obviously our congress was much more civilized in the early 1900s.

The Soros of his day had TR shot.

TR still gave his stump speech BEFORE getting medical attention.

There is a good goddamn reason his face is on Rushmore.

Who was this Soros-like person? Boss Tweed?

I think he means if TR ran today

People like him for all the great things he did, but IF he were around today, the liberals would definitely hate him. In fact, reading up on Roosevelt is a big part of what drove me to supporting Trump. I feel like Trump actually draws a lot of influence from him.

Nah, Jontron's a pretty big liberal and said he noticed a contrast in past vs present politicians.

He'd be hated simply cause he has an R next to his name.

Jontron happens to follow Trump on twitter, but last I checked Clinton as well. It's safe to say he's undecided.

"I aaaiiiint havin that shit! Hillary for prison!"

Teddy Roosevelt and Donald Trump are so close politically it's ridiculous. I love it.

To that end, the platform called for

Strict limits and disclosure requirements on political campaign contributions Registration of lobbyists Recording and publication of Congressional committee proceedings In the social sphere the platform called for

A National Health Service to include all existing government medical agencies. Social insurance, to provide for the elderly, the unemployed, and the disabled Limited the ability of judges to order injunctions to limit labor strikes. A minimum wage law for women An eight-hour workday A federal securities commission Farm relief Workers' compensation for work-related injuries An inheritance tax The political reforms proposed included

Women's suffrage Direct election of Senators Primary elections for state and federal nominations The platform also urged states to adopt measures for "direct democracy", including:

The recall election (citizens may remove an elected official before the end of his term) The referendum (citizens may decide on a law by popular vote) The initiative (citizens may propose a law by petition and enact it by popular vote) Judicial recall (when a court declares a law unconstitutional, the citizens may override that ruling by popular vote).[11] Besides these measures, the platform called for reductions in the tariff, and limitations on naval armaments by international agreement.

Are you sure they are close? This is the platform Teddy ran on when he ran as a progressive. Where do you see any similarities?

I see nothing wrong with TR's platform. All of it would directly attack the globalist hold on our nation.

Oh, and that farm relief was for small family owned farms, nothing like our billions a year subsidies for massive agriculture combines we have today.

Tread softly and carry a BIG STICK

I would like to mention: At this time the Liberal and Conservative in the US during the 1850's were switched in terms if ideals. If he did say this (which he didn't) it would be as an advocate of modern left wing ideals.

Teddy: Gets shot, finishes his speech

Hillary: Is ailed by God know what; gets tossed into van like a slab of beef

Could it be that Hillary is literally ailed by God? nah... but maybe? Trump - boundless energy, even tweeting at 3 am. This guy is 70 folks! Hillary - needs a week of solitude to gather enough energy to talk for 90 minutes and still walk off the stage at the end.

GOD I WISH I KNEW TEDDY, WHAT A MAN

im a liberal thats voting for trump

It just used to be that before sjws being liberal meant something else

I'm a classical liberal. The term "liberal" has been hi-jacked by the left.

It is entirely on purpose, it was done because they know that their ideas are the exact opposite of what the literal meaning of liberal means.

They have done this so often with many words because trying to define words in the literal sense instead of the figurative causes severe cognitive dissonance. If you are brainwashed into learning the figurative meaning first it will almost be impossible to revert that person, unless they go through deprogramming.

Other notable words that they have done this to are: Progressive, racist, and homophobia etc.

I'm liberal in the definition of the word "liberal" sense. I'm totally open to new ideas and tradition doesn't matter to me.

That's not what it means to sjws.

That being said any conservatives that are homophobic or harp on "traditional marriage" need to put your bibles down and stop pushing your religion on others. There is literally no reason to oppose homosexual couples that isn't religion based.

Anyway, that was off topic, but conservatives can be just as knee jerk and closed minded as the new breed of sjws.

As a conservative raised male, I welcome homosexual couples with open arms. Welcome friends!

I think the term now is classical liberal. Same with classical conservative.

I hope to see a renaissance in the classical ideologies after this election.

That would be wonderful! So many interesting views to debate, some of which have been recently supported or debunked within the last few decades.

we can never really have ideological debates and discussions about culture and policy that mean anything until we break the hold of special interests over our system of government.

Classic liberal is basically hands off government. What the right wing used to be before Goldwater conservatism. Social liberal spawned after the 60s free love generation, who were generally liberal with their sexual attitudes. A lot of the far left wing aligned with this. Then sometime, the right wing were called conservatives & the left were called liberals. *Fun fact, the right wing government in Australia is called the Liberal Party.

I think that's true of some right wing parties in Europe, as well.

Exactly. I'm a classical liberal and I HATE being called a liberal. They culturally appropriated our preferred pronouns, those fucks!

Just like they use the term "progressive".

"progressivism" is such an insidious term, I don't think Orwell himself could've come up with a darker name for a political movement. It leaves no room whatsoever for disagreement.

It was infuriating how much they used that word at the convention. "Look how smirk progressive our platform is. Aren't we just the most morally superior beings in the universe? Nevermind that we're nominating the most evil and corrupt politician of our time."

Moral relativism is such a joke.

I think you would be interested in the history of the Democratic Party. Unfortunately they have been on the wrong side of history since their founding with Andrew Jackson.

To be fair, atleast Jackson got us Florida.

Clinton takes.

Andrew Jackson was a fascinating president. What a life.

He was at least a master duelist.

Founding fathers were liberals, in the classical sense.

Omg same. I was/am very liberal but it doesn't mean what it used to anymore.

Dems/Reps today (generally speaking):

Dems- Socially Classically Liberal, Economically Authoritarian

Reps- Socially Authoritarian, Economically Classically Liberal

SJWs- Socially Authoritarian, Economically Authoritarian

TEDDY ROOSEVELT WOULD TRY AND FIST FIGHT OUR ENTIRE CURRENT HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND SENATE IN A BARE KNUCKLES DUEL TO THE DEATH IF HE WERE ALIVE TODAY

WHERE ARE OUR BASED CLONING EXPERTS???

Working on Reagan clones. Teddy's up next. In other news: Duncan Idaho and Jango Fett boxed with the Diana 3's

Duncan Idaho

Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time, long time.

And probably win against those wimpy cucks.

Paul Ryan would literally cry if confronted with the likes of a Teddy Roosevelt who would duel him in front of the entire legislative, executive, and judicial branches.

To anger a liberal even worse, show them this quote.

edit: Yes, Roosevelt didn't say this. Doesn't invalidate my comment though.

He never said this, though.

"to anger a liberal, lie to them about a quote about telling them the truth."

[–]freudian_nipple_slip 5ポイント6ポイント  (0子コメント)

technically, by definition of this quote, it should anger conservatives since he never said it

Your comment is valid, but in turn this makes the fake quote invalid. You're now showing liberals a lie, and they are getting upset. Which is the exact opposite of what the quote says.

8 minutes. 433 upvotes. There's so much fucking energy here tonight.

Yeah, I was making a meme and came back to see I had a shit-ton of comments... My God, MAGA!

Ah yes, the founder of the progressive party. Smart man Teddy was.

Liberals are detached from reality and think that the truth is lies and lies are the truth.

Weren't they like flip flopped then though?

Is this his quote though? I'm not judging the validity of the statement - just not sure if it's his.

I don't understand. I clearly read this as conservatives get riled up over things that aren't even true, and liberals get riled up over things that are true.

Any other reading of this doesn't even make sense as political commentary, because the bit about conservatives is unnecessary - everyone gets upset if they find they've been lied to, it would add nothing to the statement of that's what it meant.

Based Teddy. He's the closest of our former Presidents to our own Donald, I do declare. Strong as a BULL MOOSE!

Winston Churchill is based too: Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.

This could very obviously have been written the other way.

How about "To anger a simpleton, tell him you disagree".

This is the election that made me a republican. I thought I was liberal leaning moderate, turned out I was a conservative with misconceptions about my own political alignment.

all too true. thanks teddy.

BASED BULLMOOSE!

Based Teddy. Dude achieved more by his 32nd birthday than Hillary in her whole life. The bull moose is alive and well in Trump.

Been reading his book "The Strenuous Life". There is so much more shit in there that seems extremely relevant to today. Highly recommend it for all of you to read it if you get a chance.

Drop us some quotes, fam.

"A life of slothful ease, a life of that peace which springs merely from lack either or of power to strive after great things, is as little worthy of a nation as of an individual."

"As it is with the individual, so it is with the nation."

"When once we have put down armed resistance, when once our rule is acknowledged, then an even more difficult task will begin, for then we must see to it that the islands are administered with absolute honesty and with good judgment. If we let the public service of the islands be turned into the prey of the spoils politician, we shall have begun to tread the path which Spain trod to her own destruction."

"Cowardice does not promote peace, and that even the great evil of war may be less evil than cringing to iniquity."

"Unrighteous and cowardly peace may be worse than any war."

"Nations that expand and nations that do not expand may both ultimately go down, but the one leaves heirs and a glorious memory, and the other leaves neither."

I need my fucking Teddy

Fun fact: after his presidency, he wanted to enlist and fight in WWII. But Wilson ultimately rejected his plan.

Would love to see how he'd handle msm

Still applies today. Shit man the old guys knew wtf they were talking about. So much for liberals saying they were dumb and shit.

The OG Roosevelt. My man.

What if both things anger me? I hate being lied to, but I also hate knowing how screwed up everything is.
