Two movies, same plot-
Main character(Cheater) has a loving relationship with spouse. Things are routine, if not boring. Spouse takes off with the kid(s) for a few days and Cheater meets a Sexy Stranger and has sex with them. End of plot.
First movie-Fatal Attraction
Michael Douglas as the Cheater, Glenn Close as the sexy stranger. He denies her, and like any woman denied the cock and the cash and prizes with it, makes his life hell. Wife, family, and friends find out and treat him like a cockroach. He eats a ton of shit to get wife home. Close invades the family space and fucks things up, and it's up to the wife who pulls the trigger and saves everyone. The End.
Second Movie-The Bridges of Madison County
Cheater-Meryl Street, Sexy Stranger-Clint Eastwood
This movie starts with Cheater's grown son and daughter finding Cheaters diary after she has died(first red flag, Cheater escapes any guilt or shame) kids are pissed, they start reading. Story flashes back to late 50's/early60's. Hubby takes kids to state fair or whatever. Sexy Stranger comes to town to photograph bridges for NatGeo. He's in a diner drinking coffee and a woman comes in(not the Cheater) everyone treats her like garbage, because she is a known cheater. Clint takes pity and lets her sit with him. This scene accomplishes two things, it makes Clint the understanding Blue pill, and the audience is made to feel like all those other people were such judgemental assholes back then because the didn't know the woman's 'reasons' (remember Michal Douglas did not get to have 'reasons' in FA)
Anyway, Clint and Meryl have sex, which makes him an asshole because he put her in jeopardy of being treated like the other skank if anyone found out. Nothing happens, though, and he takes off.
The film flashes back to grown son and daughter. They are no longer mad at Mom, but love and empathize her even more, because of her 'reasons'. It's also life changing for them. Daughter rushes home and kicks boyfriend/husband out. Son goes home, apologizes profusely to his wife about being a man, cries like a bitch, and promises to be whatever SHE wants him to be.
The end
