Yutaka Yamamoto (Animation Director)


Born 1974, in Osaka.
He is well known for his recognition works includes “Lucky Star”, “Kannagi Crazy Shrine Maiden”, “Fractale” in animation, “Watashino Yasashiku nai Sepai” in live-action etc.

A graduate from Kyoto University with Literature Major, he began his career at Kyoto Animation Co., Ltd with working under Mr. Yoshiji Kigami. His debut work as an animation director was “POWER STONE”, after that he has made numerous works such as “Weekly Story-Land”, “Atashin’chi” etc.
In 2006, he joined as the series production director in “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”. He also wrote the lyrics of “The Mikuru Legend of Love” and choreographed the ending theme song which became a big buzz as a “Haruhi Dance” all over the world.
After he directed “Lucky Star” in 2007, he founded his own animation studio “Ordet” and became CEO of the company. In 2008, he directed “Kannagi Crazy Shrine Maiden” and in 2009, he supervised “Black Rock Shooter” (OVA Ver.) which is the solo production as the main studio for Ordet. In 2001, he directed his first original animation “Fractale”.
His talent can be found in not only animation works but also in numerous media as a guest-speaker and writer. In 2010, he directed live-action feature film “Watashino Yasashiku nai Senpai” which he won The Best Upcoming Director Award in TAMA Cinema Award as well as his serial novel “Einsatz” on “Monly Animedia” was published. After 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami on 3.11, he takes his actions to support people in Tohoku at his will.
