What I find amazing is that this lad has won it all, yet he still enjoyed his time with us and will put in a good word about us in any future conversations. For me, having been born in 1996 and not being old enough to know the 99 treble season, this period of 2006-09 was amazing. What a team we had. Our pinnacle was probably being crowned champions of the world in Japan.

People on r/soccer are loosing there minds over this likes it's completely horrendous. Am I just a cunt or is this decent banter? If my mates burned a pair of my trainers I'd be annoyed, if my mates burned a pair of trainers I got for free off my sponsor knowing I could get a brand new pair for free whenever I wanted I'd be a lot less annoyed.

I think it's mostly the fact that he had been trying to get them custom made for months, and they had his kids names on them and stuff. If it was just a normal pair it would be fair enough, especially with how easy it is for them to get more.

It's a bit of a first world problem though isn't it? Like I'm not overwhelmed with sorrow at the loss of some boots that weren't necessary or irreplaceable. If it was a momento that his kids had given him that was irreplaceable I'd completely understand it that would be harsh. Burning some boots that he probably had to send a few emails to receive for free really isn't a big deal

Pique sounds like a knob here. I think the fact that Evra's shoes had his kids' names on them makes it worse.
