Just got back from lunch with a colleague who is soon to have a kid and get married in that order. Purchases he has made or is making to make his condo suitable for his fiance who doesn't work includes: new flooring throughout, new counter tops, new HVAC, new appliances, and new painting. Also he just sprung for an engagement ring and vacation where he proposed. I asked if her parents were chipping in for the wedding, nope. Asked what she was bringing to the table and he said room and board for the fetus.

Hope it works out for him, but sounds like she is financially cleaning this poor guy out pretty quickly. When he is in debt and can't afford the nice things I'm sure she will bail.

Pretty fortunate I don't have to deal with that.
