ETC network issues discussion (self.EthereumClassic)

The ETC network appears to be facing memory usage attacks. The issue is likely related to the latest attacks on the ETH network.

  • Both parity and geth nodes are affected by the attack.
  • For miners, it is recommended to use nodes with 16GB and above, and increase swap size to 64GB.

Seems to coincide with the announcement of an inevitable hard fork from only a few hours ago.

Coming up with such models is still a research topic; it's not reasonable to expect something like this to be researched and reviewed in time for the EIP150 hard fork, and so in the short term "Starcraft-style rebalancing" is the only realistic way forward

What are the plans here to address this now that the turrets have swung around?

Took a while for attacks to hit the ETC chain. I wonder if this is because shorting is now enabled on Kraken allowing people to profit from attacking?
