To be honest, both candidates would have a tough time getting a clearance (even though the classified information in the emails didn't constitute criminal behavior, it was certainly a significant security violation). However, the president does not need one.

This is true.

If you are having any type of financial problems you cant get the most basic security clearance. I have said it before. Its insane to think the most important job in the country has the least amount of safe guards. Being born in the US and being at least 35 is not enough. I mean what if he ends up being diagnosed with Alzheimer or Bipolar disorder and be the president. There is absolutely no reason why a candidate shouldn't have a medical/psychological eval, by an independent medical board, not a personal doctor, before being considered by the parties. Trumps medical letter is an obvious fabrication and there is no way that should have ever been accepted.
