I was born in Los Angeles, California to both Japanese parents. I am fluent in both English and Japanese. My first real business experience was at the age of 14 when I was offered to represent companies and exclusive distribution rights for several audio equipment brands around the world.
Upon graduating from high school in Okinawa, Japan where I grew up, I was funded by an angel investor to begin a company to form early-stage partnerships with emerging brands and manufactures.
Since then I have been involved in several startups and business ventures that range from medical to finance.
My skills are centered around entrepreneurship and new business development. My interests and experiences are concentrated in supply chain management, international trade, product distribution, e-commerce, travel/hospitality, web service/mobile app development, finance, cryptocurrencies, automobile sales, audio equipment, music production/DJ, team building, employee management, work efficiency, and goal setting.

2009 – 2012
At the age of 14, I was an aspiring club/battle DJ active in the community. My contributions, influence, and geographical location, lead me to receive several offers from instrument manufacturers worldwide to act as their distributor in Japan. I have learned the basics of business through conducting everything from sales, marketing, import/export, logistics, accounting, translation, web design, sponsorships, customer support, and cash flow. I had accounts open with most of the large musical instrument retailers around Japan and negotiated with Nikkei 225 companies.
October 2013 – Present
Upon graduating high school, I received funding from an angel investor at a pre-seed valuation of $100k to start Tokita Investments Inc. Tokita Investments originally began as a company that forms early-stage partnerships with emerging hardware ventures and brands to secure an exclusive distribution contract. We were featured in several primetime media slots. Currently, Tokita Investments is running several ocean-front premium AirBNB locations, buy/sell used cars, and other small businesses. I am currently operating TI hands-off most of the time through 4 employees.
June 2014 – December 2014
Together with Alphapoint, a FinTech/HFT company based in California, we aimed to build Japan’s first local-based Cryptocurrency exchange with arbitrage and re-marketing features. The project was ultimately scrapped after failing to find a bank to operate with us.
January 2015 – Present
In order to help foreigners find commonly sold medication perfect for them in Japan, our web service/mobile app allowed foreigners in Japan input keywords such as symptoms or ingredients in English, Chinese, Korean, or Japanese, to get a recommendation. Our database had all the information found on the box of over 1300+ major OVC medication that can be found in most drug stores around Japan in several languages. Our B2B In-Store marketing platform consisted of a tablet placed in the store with our app installed for customers to use by themselves to save on HR costs and a cloud-based advertisement system to show ads when the tablet is not in use. Clients included one of the largest retail store chains in Japan. We had M&A offers from two major travel agencies.

Cross Commerce is a marketplace and trading platform where emerging manufacturers/brands can find importers around the world in vice versa. We seek to replace trade shows and the tedious operation of managing clients by providing a simple to use platform to oversee orders and track escrow payments. Although sourcing has been revolutionized by Alibaba and eCommerce by Amazon, product distribution is yet to be disrupted by technology. Every manufacturer uses an average of $100,000 to attend conventions and to find the right partners to expand overseas. Cross Commerce will reduce that cost to less than 1%, cut labor, and make everything easier to manage.

I used my bilingual skills to localize SummerTimeStudio’s mobile game apps. Several games I have translated have ranked in the top 10 games worldwide numerous times and have been collectively downloaded over 6 million times as of March 2015. Other than translation work; I was an in-house English teacher, reviewed documents and contracts, and etc.
