It's all about Turkey actually. 1) The guys are horny as fuck, as a large number of the women will not date or even leave the house. Whores or rape is the only way some people can get laid 2) there is a large group of men and women who believe women who behave "a certain way" will get raped and deserve to get raped. A certain way might mean: not covering your head, or wearing shorts, or leaving the house without a chaperone. My sister got groped in downtown Istanbul one afternoon by a teenage boy, his mom and sister (both covered) encouraged him to do it, and they all laughed at my sister when she got upset.

THIS. My understanding is that in essence, any woman walking around in such a state of dress (or undress) is essentially seen as having purposefully/willfully* chosen to "flaunt" herself in a manner akin to a prostitute (and in a society that does NOT "positively guarantee" her any "right" to do so).

And given that a woman like this -- ostensibly "educated" and literate -- in regards to any potential claim (by herself OR others) that she "just didn't KNOW" that by doing so she was flaunting (and even thereby OPENLY denigrating/disrespecting) the social mores of the culture she was "visiting"... well it is really WITHOUT excuse.

* That is not the same as "victim" blaming -- because this woman was in NO WISE an "innocent victim" -- she was NOT simply "going about her normal life" when suddenly & unexpectedly she was "attacked" by some WILD bear... she quite specifically, and quite intentionally decided to ENTER the proverbial "Bear's den" and then moreover she chose to defiantly "poke" and "provoke" said "bear" in a very specific manner which she KNEW was likely to generate this response.

Not necessarily "happy" to see that this occurred; but in truth I feel ZERO "empathy" for her -- no more than I would some person who (entirely unnecessarily) CHOSE to walk across a minefield in defiance of posted signs that say "DANGER! Minefield. Do NOT cross." Such a person is an IDIOT.

I mean I live in a very SAFE* rural area of the US midwest -- farmland region (aka "flyover land" to coastal types) -- around here if your car breaks down on the side of the road it is STILL very likely that someone (or several someones) will stop and generously offer to help.

Yet even around here, I would not willingly (unnecessarily, sans vehicle breakdown, etc) engage in "hitchhiking" alongside roads -- and generally speaking would not even choose to WALK (w/o seeking rides) for more than a very short distance along most highways or thru-roads... because it just ISN'T "wise" even if the risk is (statistically) ridiculously low.

* Rather "absurdly" safe actually. Most years there are ZERO "homicides" here. A few years back there was ONE year with several (IIRC 5 total) "homicides" in the entire county, four of them were "domestic violence" related (i.e. 2 people being a single murder-suicide, another a straight suicide, and the fourth being declared an "accidental firearm discharge" {i.e. apparently just "young and stupid" though the kid was "troubled" and a possible 2nd suicide, there just wasn't evidence to conclusively support that: no "note" or anything}), the final "fifth" homicide technically didn't occur in the county (or at least that's what the coroner determined) but rather was a "body" that was brought/dumped here after having been murdered elsewhere (most likely one of the 3 large metro areas an hour or two away).

Seriously, to people who come from a country & culture where only animals are paraded around with essentially nothing on for clothing; or likewise where only animals like sheep & goats get casually fucked by multiple guys who are just horny & desperate to get their rocks off (to say nothing of dozens or hundreds of guys) the "casual" manner in which modern western women walk around and engage in casual sex (with multiple men in short order) seems to them to be ACTUALLY how "animals are treated."
