Trailing to a goal,the Dutch hoof the ball in the opposition's box,a bounce and Memphis strikes it on the half volley,straight towards Lloris. The shot is a perfect description of his performance,decent but nothing impressive.

POSITIVES: ● Looked to take on his man,succeeding more often than not. ● Great delivery from set pieces.

NEGATIVES:

●His work rate,preferred to jog back rather than chasing the french RB who had acres of free space ahead of him.

● Pace,now,this may sound absurd but it seems he has lost a yard of pace,Matuidi and Sissoko were able to catch up and even outpace him.Suprising.

●Positioning,he operated in the space between the RB and CB with Janssen having no option other than drifting out wide leaving Dost with no one to link up with.

CONCLUSION : Memphis had an average game , showing glimpses of his quality. Can his performance be attributed to his lack of game time at United? Possibly,he looked rusty but at the moment there is no way he can play for the first team with that level of sharpness and confidence.

He'd be better off operating in a central position than out wide IMO.
