Nationalism and xenophobia is a problem with Western countries everywhere. It looks like the U.S. will have a small triumph whereas the U.K. did not.

No. We work to fix this. We do not let this great experiment fail. If we do, what happens to the nukes? Failure is not an option here. Suck it up & try to figure out how to mend the bond.

We tried that once about 150 years ago; it didn't work out so well.

0/10 would not recommend.

I dunno, dissolving that many people seems like it might release a lot of carbon.

Well, okay, I guess from an environmental perspective you're right.

It's not half against half. Look at the polls. The majority of voters are rejecting Trump, and the majority of Americans aren't even voting.

During the American Civil war the population of the Union was 18.5 million, the population of the Confederacy was 5.5 million (non-slave).

Around 30% of contemporary Americans support Trump in some way. In some states the ratio for Trump is much higher. The chances of another Civil war should not be dismissed even after Trump loses.

The Republican party is to blame for this.

Well, I don't think there'd be enough people to really revolt wholesale but I'd not be surprised if there's an uptick in extremism.
