So, this kind of concerns me. This isn't my catch, but I was browsing a Facebook group and saw this.

Here are the reviews on the page before they got removed. You can see that all the negative reviews have now been removed here.

I don't know if I can trust any reviews at all on this site anymore. It completely violates the integrity of having a review system if legitimate bad reviews are being removed.

Yeah I'm reconsidering too. The only things I've really been interested have been the Hawk, and SmdF and Dead Sea sets. I have other places to spend my money, anyway (too many damn seasonals coming out this month).

I stopped buying from Joe when I tried resolving an insurance claim through USPS. I was told that the sender needed to submit the claim. When I emailed Joe, I received the equivalent of "Sry bb. Gud luk w/ dat!"

It is honnestly stunning that people still buy from him after all the bullshit he does. Especially to Canadians: putting CAD as the currency when you shop, but subtely turn it into USD when you check out so you end up paying more...

He was also a scumbag as a distributor. So much that some companies dropped him as their canadian distributor... No wonder why.

I also don't understand why the shipping rates within Canada are so high. Last time I bought something from them I swear it was being sent from an hour away and it cost more than the item itself.

At least IKON shut the hell up and walked away. I can see past some of the issues people have with Joe and IB but a blatant disregard for your customers and their hard earned money isn't acceptable.

Thanks very much for bringing this creepy crap to light. It is disappointing to say the least. I will be taking my business elsewhere along with others who read this and feel the same (negatively) about such shady practices. Nice that there are a lot of other excellent shaving supply vendors from which to choose!

really does this surprise anyone? a lot of the websites remove negative feedback, i bought a light from Lowes, with in two years the heat from the light caused the lamp base to crack allowing a dead short. creating a potential fire hazard, tried to talk to the corporate hq about it they would not acknowledge it, left a negative review on the website about the light it was removed with in 24 hours. word of mouth and a non related website are the only way truth will get out

This goes to a repeated pattern of behavior and a demonstrable history of acting in bad faith, Joes attitude quite frankly is one of contempt for the community.

I stopped giving him any money at all some time back, the soaps he slaps his label on are inconsistent and perform poorly and have done for quite some time with few exceptions.

I tend to not trust website reviews on items that they sell themselves, but it's still shady business practise. I don't shop at Lowe's either. I don't trust Amazon reviews. I do my research at third party websites, forums, reddit and the like.

Seth from Men essentials said they do not remove reviews. They might edit them to remove foul language or make them more readable but do not outright delete negative reviews simply because they are negative. I would be more inclined to believe him.

I had the same sort of thing happen with Amazon over a portable handset phone battery replacement. It was mis-represented by the vendor, wouldn't work because it had the wrong connector and they refused to refund my order until I wrote an accurate and fair complaint as to how they handled the issue. Then I kept getting requests from the vendor to remove my complaint and I refused. Amazon stepped in and informed me that they were removing my review since the vendor had authorized a return.

Same-same bullshit. Those vendors that are different ought to be rewarded with our business. Amazon is too big to fight but the rest aren't.

Bought the Hawk SE razor on release day and also bought some SE blades from tryablade the same day. Had the blades in hand before USPS even picked up the package from ItalianBarber

Looks like (hopefully) this is the last time I buy from them as well

I ordered my Black Hawk on Tuesday, it was shipped on Wednesday, and it was on my doorstep at noon Thursday. 48 hrs.

IB probably had to fulfill 1000 orders. All sane companies do their man loading based on steady state work. If you man load to give the same quality of service during relatively rare peaks, you have lots of employees scratching their balls when the peak subsides.

Amazon now usually takes at least a couple days before shipping if you don't go Prime. Keeps costs lower - less fulfillment agents to pay.

Maybe this is because I'm a progressive/liberal/long-haired San Franciscan, but the scent description makes me cringe. I love those kinds of scents, but the way he describes it just leaves me uncomfortable.

Some vendors shoot themselves in the foot--this case, iKon, PAA--that are still inexplicably popular. But I know of at least one that apologized & managed to turn it back around. Time will tell.

I stopped buying from Joe after realizing that I was paying too much in shipping costs with IB. Paid $6.95 in s/h for a $14.99 soap! Joe's response after I suggested that he reconsider revising future shipping costs:

"I wish we could and I feel your pain. With the January increase by the postal services, we actually lose money now on the shipping."

I'm curious. Where are you buying from instead? I've tested the s/h of almost all the Canadian sites to ship 1 soap and they are all in that $7-10 range. It's too bad Amazon didn't carry a bit more options then tobs and pdp.

Devil's advocate here, because that role is always a bit fun to play: The deleted reviews shown could be seen as inaccurate as that line of soaps (the Don X ones) are all very lightly scented, but the scent is definitely existent - and IIRC they're advertised as lightly scented anyway, so it can be interpreted as unfair to give a soap a bad review for having a very light scent when that's meant to be a good feature rather than a drawback.

(Pls no downvoterino, I ain't a crazy IB fanboy or anything, I just want to stir up discussion because this is quite a development and I'm interested in watching it all go down)

This isn't the first time I've heard about IB selling supposedly botched batches of soap. People are like, "There's no scent, maybe a bad batch. Performance is great, though!" Performance is not the point, the point is that they didn't get what they paid for and they have a right to express their disappointment in the review section.
