Forget about Cataphract, Dragoon is here.
Just get all most DD and great supportive skills and enjoy.

Thing i would like to notice - You can swap your weapons. Use two sets of weapon - TH Spear and Shield&Spear.
TH Spear for throwing skills and S&S for tankines and regular battle.

Attributes
- Provoke take it if you will play in party, coz this will aggro monsters on you. I Recomend lvl 2 of this attribute. Adjust lvls due to current party setup. If you drop mobs up it more.
- Finestra: Splash must have, get it as fast as possible. It will increase your grind potential
- Concentrate: Enhance, increase when you have at least 10k Silver after you got all equips on your current level.
- Spear Throw: Bind get lvl 2 of this attribute it will be enaugh for start. Get more levels if you have spare Silver.
- Cyclone: Movement must have, get it as fast as possible.
- Mordschlag: Cloth Armor must have, get it as fast as possible.
- Two-handed Spear Mastery: Big Game Hunter must have, max out asap
- Gae Bulg: Attack Zone max this attribute, first priority.
- Gae Bulg: Defense Zone max this attribute, second priority.

PvP Related Attributes (P.S. do not get this attributes unless you will fight in PvP, GvG battles soon)
- Dragon Soar: Shock must have
- Cyclone: Resistance must have
- Restrain: Slow must have
- Serpentine: Bleeding nice to have
- Long Stride: Decreased Cooldown get it if you have spare Silver.

Stat Distribution
2:1 STR:CON - Till you get 30 CON (LVL 52)
1:1 STR:SPR - Till you get 30 SPR (LVL 96)
3:1:1 STR:CON:SPR - Till you MAX out STR, max out means invest 95 points.
For the current state you suppose to have 98 STR with 56 points invested.
That means you suppose to stop investing to STR at lvl 159, this is the last lvl you invest to STR. From that invest to CON:SPR 1:1
On lvl 201 stop investing to SPR, coz you rich MAX SPR for build and invest in CON another 24 points, so at lvl 225 you will have all your stats MAXED.
Save 45 Points, coz it's not yet tested if we really need DEX, if you start miss a lot then invest all points to DEX.

FAQ
- Q: Why don't you go for Peltasta C1 instead of Swardsman C2 ?
- A: You don't get more profits from Peltasta, almost all skills in there will be useless in the late game, the only skill that is usefull is "Provoke". From the other side you don't get "huge" advantage from buff level increase going Swordsman C2 but you do get Restrain that can be realy usefull in the late game, coz we have longest mele range. But it's up to you what go for Rank 2, Peltasta C1 or Swordsman C2, but i use Swordsman C2.

- Q: Can i use TH Spears with this build ?
- A: Yes you can, there is no restriction to use TH Spears instead of Spear. But you can and probably will use TH Spear for throwing skills to maximise your damage output, but note that you able to use TH Spears only on the Rank 7 Dragoon C1. Also you have switch weapon so you can quickly switch between you offense/defense playstyles.

- Q: Can i use this build to play with a Spear&Dagger ?
- A: No, you better go Corsair class coz he gets huge buffs for playing with a weapon in each hand.

- Q: Is this PvE or PvP build ?
- A: Both, you can go farm World Bosses and fight in GvG battles with the same efficiency. But note at the begginig of the game you have less damaging skills if you compara with other builds and classes. This is all about Rank 5, there all fun starts.

Basic Strategy
- Buff Guang Ho, Concentrate, Finestra only
- Switch to TH Spear -> Gae Bulg
- Switch to Spear&Shield -> Long Stride to TH Spear location
- Enemy NEAR: Spear Lunge -> Serpentine or/and Synchro Thrusting
- Enemy FAR: Switch to TH Spear -> Spear Throw
- Enemy FAR: Get spear and repeat.
- Enemy NEAR: Dragon Soar -> Spear Lunge

VS Swordsman Strategy
Most of the time you will meat in close combat, but use your advantage of the weapon choice - Spear has most attack range compared to other melee weapons.
Spear - 5
TH Spear - 10
Always move to max distance from the enemy to land basic attacks.
- Buff Guang Ho, Concentration, Finestra and depending on Warrior type Pain Barrier (Shield,Barbarian mostly YES)
- TH Spear: Gae Bulg -> Spear&Shield: Dragon Soar -> Spear Lunge -> Punish -> Spear Lunge -> Serpentine -> 2 x Synchro Thrusting
Now there is 2 options:
- You Low on HP -> Restrain and move away with counterattacking with basic attacks.
- Enemy Low on HP and tries to run Switch to TH Spear and Spear Throw, repeat if still running away.

VS Archer/Wizard Strategy
- Buff Guang Ho, Concentrate, Finestra
- Buff Pain Barrier if enemy Control Mage
- Switch TH Spear: Gae Bulg -> Long Stride
- Enemy NEAR: Dragon Soar -> Spear Lunge -> Serpentine
- Enemy FAR: Spear Throw -> Move to TH Spear position and repeat Spear Throw until enemy will be in the melee.
If enemy move speed same or lower then yours buff Restrain and try to [Stun] if success hit with Synchro Thrusting two times.
But in the most situations it will be Spear Throw and pick up iterations.

VS Cleric
- Buff Guang Ho, Concentration
- Enemy NEAR: Dragon Soar -> Lunge -> Serpentine or Synchro Thrusting
- Enemy FAR: Spear Throw -> move to location and repeat.
- Important DO NOT start fight from Gae Bulg, wait till he uses Heal and target location where it was used. Then Long Stride and melee combo.

Leveling Guide
Basic Tips:
- When you under 5 levels to next step wisit Lena/Rosa they will provide you with free EXP cards and Silver

LVL 1-15
- Everything is pretty simple here, go for all quests and get lvl 15 as fast as you can
- Farm Vubbe Thief in Miner's Village
for Sphata sword.
- Farm Big Red Kepa
it drops Meteor

LVL 15-40
- you need to get equip for lvl 15
2 Possible sets you can get easy and cheap:
1) Cafrisun Set
2) Watcher Set

Cafrisun drops pieces of the set but it is probably more easy to buy it from auction.
Watcher Set pieces can be obtained on Guards Graveyard map. All you need to do is to gather Souls and get them to the Owl Statue at the right side of the map. If it possible for you to farm Catacombs Maggot or you have high level friend in party that can kill them it would be awesome, coz they drop Thresh Spear.
Once you get enough souls you will have Owl Buff that says "you can see invisible things", then search for chests on the level and it will contain piece of set, then repeat until you get all pieces.

2 Possible Weapons you can get:
- Dio Sword
- Panto Sword
Stick to Swords for now, it's unnecessary to get spear right now coz you can use Synchro Thrusting with swords too.

Enchant all equip to +5. Weapon, Armour and Pants with first priority.

LVL 40-70
- Go through main quest
- Get Light Plate Set
You can get it on the auction for 40k total. And materials you can farm yourself.
- Get Dory spear.
You can get recipe from Ammon.
Farm Thornball to get Sauroter it is required for Dory.
- Also Thornballs drops Thornball Thorn that is required for Zalia Kite Shield, you can get reciep from Coliflower on the same location.
- Get any plate hands,boots to get bonus for Full Plate set. But the best choise will be Earth Plate Gauntlets and Earth Plate Greaves.
- Enchant Dory to +6 coz Hoplite C2 class quest will require you to have any spear type weapon enchanted to +6. Update you can have +6 and more spear to pass class test.

LVL 70-90
When you face quest line that moves you to Royal Mausoleum F1 You have 2 options:
- Go to Royal Mausoleum Constructors' Church and farm solo.
- Get party and head to 2nd floor to Royal Mausoleum Contructor's Chapel. In the right bottom corner will be spot with stairs if hed up stairs you can find Beacon, activating witch you will start quest to protect it.
In the previous room 15 mobs will spawn continiously and will move to beacon, clear that waves and you will get quick EXP.
Note: you can change Channels while beacon on cooldown on one channel it could be up on other.
- Get equip if possible, if not Enchant equip you have now to higher level:
Armour:
- Riena Set you will get it heading on the quest line.
- Bone Armor, Bone Skin, Bone Gauntlets, Bone Greaves
Shield:
- Beetleback
- Ferret Marauder Shield
Weapon:
- Grand Spontoon
- Doom Spear
I would suggest you to get 3-4 Stars Green Gems, they will provide you with great Critical Chance, that is good coz you get great Critical Damage Bonuses from both spears. Add gem to Shield first.

LVL 90-100
- Go to the lvl 90 dungeon, use Book and have 3-4 levels from one run.
(You able to do 5 runs in a one day). No time to think go to the dungeon.

LVL 120
- Legwyn Family's Plate Armor Set is a great upgrade
- Zega Spear or Seimos Spear would be ok, you can also upgrade Grand Spontoon to +6 and have more damage than basic damage of any of this spears.
You will have the best spear in game on lvl 170 Geras Spear. Stick to it and enchant it as more as possible. Make awakening if you have good alchemist on the server, do your best to make it more powerfull coz this is realy great spear. If you able to get Aias that would be also one of the best shield in game.

I'm new in tos, before starting to play, I noticed some builds and this and the best. I will follow it. may explain part of Stat Distribution, as did not understand.

Think Twice, coz i got tons of "bad feedbacks" on this build regarding everything in this build, Skiull distribution, Stats distribution e.t.c.
And if you new here try out Archer/Wizard class first and when you aware with the game give other classes a try.

Swordsman C3 > Cataphract C3 > Dragoon C2 is easiest way to PvP.
- Coz [Restrain lvl 10] + [Rush] is an already easy to do
- You have ranged burst Skill like [Dethrone]
So yeah, just go this path. Also quite fast in leveling due to Ludeca spear.

[ { ( 724 + [Base Attack Damage] ) + ( 724 + [Shield DEF] x 5 + [Base Attack Damage] ) x 2 ] / 15 = Raw DPS of the skill.
If you want exact DPS comparison i can write this, i already wanted to do that. Just was looking for a reason to make it happen )

I rl like Your build You made me take synchro lvl 15 on my hoplite and i just saw this dmg by myself
spear throw lvl 5 is great and made farming fun :)
I asked cause changes You made (i agree with most) was strange :)
ofc even if i know bash is usefull i dont get why punish is only 1 point and pommel beats 1 point :D
also in my opinion sword c3 cata c3 is pvp accurate class with fun in play

I own both spears: Brandish and Magas spear

i prefeer to use Magas spear for common use agaisnt enemies since this spear provides you with a huge bonus agaisnt medium monster as well it gives you a crit rate, so pretty much this is my common use spear

Brandish in other hands provides you with a huge bonus agaisnt larger monsters also provides you with 24 STR which isnt bad at all, works good agaisnt medium type enemies (but magas its far better on this matter) but i use Brandish mostly agaisnt bosses when i want to have bit of defense (because you can use shield in my case Aias) you can still use Catacomb pike (more damage and give you crit rate too) but if i use brandish agaisnt bosses its because i want a bit defense.

About Geras spear, and according to some kind people to give us info, Spear throw got a buff in KToS which hit 3 times, and while geras spear get a nerf from 100% damage spear throw to 50% is said its apply 3 times the bonus of damage (50% x 3 ) but after getting catacomb pike and brandish i havent uset a lot geras spear, but honestly the spear throw worked good for me when i was in my path to rank7.

but its up to you buddy of what you want to use, most of the people prefeer to use magas spear and not because brandish its hard to obtain (because its it) but its more because most of the enemies you face most of time are medium type. if you want a "cheap" version of brandish you can get Khasti spear at least on my server was so cheap got it for 5k silver the recipe and was easy to make.

(this was Rank #1 build rating on this site, weird) You didn't ask anyone to follow this build you made it available as a suggestion. And totally think of give up on Swordies and play game with Archer/Wizard, coz it's easier to make thise classes effective, then Swordsman. I kinda get "attacked" in all my builds, have no idea why i deserved such rude words.

i have used 1 reset potion to swicht my stats for "STR:DEX, with 80 CON" to see how its going or if the lack of SPR would affect me, the magic defense was slightly lower than the 70 SPR but i dont see magic hitting me hard that used before for having 70 SPR, mostly i did to test things since im not into PVP, status effect steems to be the same so far.

once i finish my templar (just 15 level more) going to do another dragoon with petalsta in rank 2 to see how much different would be in damage output, i have tried with my templar so i can say with umbo blow Its possible to use punish with enemies, and works pretty well along with synchotrusting just like a filler skill.

Honestly? Rugal didnt deserve all the hate people yell at him just because this build, even despite i followed this guide from the first version (the one that didnt have stabbing and all) i tried to give most of the gameplay feedback i could, because its what most of the players that follow it would expect. once i reach Dragoon i start notice that the build wouldnt work for me in PVE, since was more for PVP oriented, and decided to modify the build to be more PVE friendly (which somewhat looks similar to the current one, just i prefeer to have 2 points in DPE instead 1 and some other stuff different from other skills)

but however that isnt reason for myself to yell and give hate to Rugal, its sad to see this community (or at least ToS Forum) gets like rabbish dogs when something isnt like they want to be or didnt like. people can give constructive criticism without reaching the point of hate. thats why most of the reason i cant recommend ToS to friend, because community its plain toxic and childish. they are reaching a point were they dont recommend builds from this site because are just "bad and all theorycrafting" and that people should follow the guides on Forum, but even asking help there they tear apart like beings made by fury.

The problem with this build is that the creator stopped playing the game a long time ago, and even when he did play, he never reached rank 7 with it... This build has many many flaws, and since its easy to find and "high" rated, lots of new players will follow it blindly just to end up having to reroll later, wasting a ton of hours. I was one of those, I reached a higher level than rugal with this build before I realized it was shit. These are the main flaws in my opinion:

- The stat distribution is shit. You never ever put points on spr as a swordie. The magic def gain is irrelevant both in pvp and pve, and every high lvl player knows that sp is never a problem when using lvl 10 sp potions, and they are very cheap and easy to come by, so no point in fucking your whole build just to save a few coins on pots.

- Its supposed to be a pvp build (?), but when it comes to swordies the only viable pvp option is sword 3 cata 3, you could argue that some corsair builds could work too. With this build you will get easily kited, with no way to land restrain + hurricane, its just bad at pvp.

-If you dont plan on doing pvp, theres absolutely no reason to go for sword 2 instead of pelt 1. Its not about the aggro, no one cares about aggro at high levels. Its about being able to pull a full room while grinding. Rugal never made it to the grindy part of the game (lvl 210+), but having provoke helps when in a grinding party.

Good news is that despite the dude knowing nothing about the meta, dragoon is going to be top tier dps when rank 8 comes out, and I heard spear throw is getting a huge buff, so its not the end of the world, you wont have the best possible build, but it will work. Funniest thing is his comment saying he is liking murmillo more than dragoon now, just as dragoon becomes top tier dps lol I guess he just goes for what looks cooler on his simulations.

about murmillo, well in those Rank8 revelation for swordies looked like he hits harder and the last thread i read in ToSforum says its deals far more damage than dragoon or fencer, i honestly dont know what to believe because i just stopped to look forum and only check it about updates.

yet they still says dragoon got nerfed, but as far i know its only about serpentine attribute that was lowered from 10 secs to 5 secs. i dont know if they got more nerfs besides that.

Currently at kTOS, Spear Throw will deal 3 hit upon each use instead of 1.
Also its hit box has been improved too.
So, yeah, the spammable new Spear Throw is like a jigsaw that completed Hoplite's kit that it has long cooldown from main skills.

Murmillo also has a good damage in PvE even if it lack some reliable defensive mechanic in which it should have.
With a certain setup build like Rod3-Shi1, Murmillo will deal a devastating burst damage.

But IMC/Nexon always looking at damage dealing only without giving actual care what does a class from Tanker style should have.
But welp, we can't do anything beside adapting to it.

Regarding Dragoons, it is true that Serpentine attribute has been reduced from 10sec to 5sec.
But due to the fact that Dethrone is so powerful that it make up for anything in Dragoon's kit, Dragoon is still a very powerful endgame class for Spear build.

Wow thats really a huge buff for Spear Throw, good thing i didnt sold my geras spear. now i have a good reason to refine even more. and its good to know that dragoon only nerf was serpentine, people on ToSforum make it sound like dragoon dont worth it anymore.

SW1 > Peltasta C3 > Rodelero C3 is a tank but when you get Murmillo, all your shit skills got buffet in scope of damage above the roof.
All Murmillo skills got consistent damage and effects. So in scope if damage this class can be Called DPS, exctly Damage Per Second attribute applicable to Murmillo only class. Other swordies are "Nuker" class, they got burst damage only skills, that are not reliable in scope of damage in the late game, there are some exceptions but there are not much of them.
Still love Dragoon as well.
SWC1>PeltaC3>RodeC3 is a complete hell to level up, due to no damage at all. Almost no solo, only party leveling.

And it differs a lot, i don't say you can't level up with classes like Peltasta, but it consumes a lot more time.

I Agree that information is missing or lacking or maybe just hasn't come to light yet, but we all can agree that does not excuse game-shaming the efforts of the people contributing to the community.

Anyone with half a brain knows that this title is not even 70% complete and everything you do from now till the final build or release could have been seemingly meaningless.

Most K/Jmmo's embellish thee "The game has X jobs so that you should have a character for every 1-2 Y things you want to do" The medium majority of North-American players forget this and crush builds that won't do everything but the dishes.

IMC Games also developed a similar class hefty game by the name of 'Grand Espada' last time I Checked I think the number of classes(Combined) was encroaching on 75.. it was released in 2006. Meaning, do not expect a game to take to your preference because you have to consider the way they have been making their titles since time, and you must be willing to admit that maybe just maybe this game is not for you,
There is no shame in admitting that.

I would like to say again that I support Rugal's efforts and I am fully aware what Theory-craft entails, perhaps we should work TOGETHER on making it clear to people reading these build guides and discussions that the following points are the absolute truth.

* This title is not even 70% complete, even if i remove the guesstimate percentage this fact still holds truth.
*At this stage in the game, most and perhaps even the majority of builds are currently or will be not optimized in Rank 8 release and it's predecessors

*Currently for rank 8 the "safest" build(s) per archetype are as followed

Q: Why
A: Because first off going down the murmillo path ends the Pedestal R2 debate once and for all and is the only class(In this archetype PATH) that offers a passive synergy between lower rank ability (Peltasta / Rodelero). Swordie is respectively a tank, and the only one at that. I shouldn't have to go into detail as to why this is the most effective way to play the Swordsman path, INITIALLY.

Q: Well that's just for tanking what about the other stuff like XYZ
A: Remember when I said a large factor of this game is to have multiple characters? No 1 build can do everything, it's impossible and not even up for debate (This includes crafting, having pet commands, and taunting (not "tanking" but yes taunting) simultaneously, among other things like supporting abilities or Item Awakening, and hey the soon to come gender blender. so trolls return to your caves, no there is no 1 build that can or will be able to do everything *mic drop*)

i agree that any other guide isnt complete since we barely just going to get Rank 8 and we dont know if we going to get new classes in Rank 9 and 10. i honestly was planning to get Dragoon C3 in Rank 9 and dunno what in rank 10 but i hope they add a new class that sinergy well with Dragoon.

the guide its good now with the new changes, i feel people definitevely want swordies with petalsta due the lure mechanic and honestly i feel such kind of skill should have be on Swordman circle1 instea petalsta so taking petalsta its because you really want to tank.

anyway since i made the templar with petalsta im also leveling the new dragoon (same build only with petalsta) in the way i did with the chivalry build, and while my experience with petalsta with my templar was somewhat good, i still have to see how will go with the new one, i dont think its going to be a lot different from this, except the fact that people will just complain less "because petalsta".

You also get 4 Elements to deal 56 damage each. And each monster in game got one of 7 element types.
Earth, Lightning, Ice, Fire, Holy, Dark, Poison
In cases of first 7 you will deal 56x4 damage, in case of Poison you will deal (56)x3 + 56/2 = (56)x3 + 28.
Here is an interesting thing regarding [Ghost] property armors, due to elemental attacks are treated as [Magical] you will deal +50% with this elemental hits but -50% with [Pierce] type of damage.
So average damage for Elements and Catacombs Pike will be:
- Elements:
(151+205)/2+56x4 = 178 + 224 = 402
- Catacombs Pike:
(304+412)/2 = 358
So from here Elements will deal more damage.
In case you fight [Large] monster you will get +188 bonus damage, all BOSSES are Large so you will deal more damage 358+188 = 546
144 more damage then Elements.
29 [S] Type monsters in game in range 170-285
400 [M] Type monsters in game in range 170-285
5 [L] Type monster in game in range 170-285
105 [XL] Type monsters in game in range 170-295
539
[S]: 5%, [M]: 74%, [L]: >1%, [XL]: 19%
So Catacombs Pike will deal more damage in 20% cases, where 19 of this cases are Quest/World Bosses.

And 56x4 damage doesn't get x1.5 multiplier. I didn't sad that Elements is better. But it cost less, and it is not the end game equip.
I stick to Elements +8, i got it for 2.3m on EU server, it's better then i would get Catacombs Pike for 3m and spend another 3m to upgrade it to +8.

I saw this kind of build before. If you want my opinion on the build by itself you can check it below, if not - just skip it =)
1) Swordsman C1:
- [Gung Ho] get at least 3 in it so you can have +64 damage buff, decrease in [Pain Barier] or [Concentration]
- [Thrust] 1, kind of mehh skill, coz 5% double effect is not that good, you can hit with auto-attacks twice for that period.
[Bledeing] damage do scales with STR, but by itself and only one way to get it is kind of a problem. But you can keep it due to it's an only 1 point.
2) Corsair C2:
- [Double Weapon Assault] this skill is a main reason you go Corsair C2, it must be maxed, decrease in [Jolly Roger]
3) Dragoon C2:
I like to spread damage along all skills to get consistent damage all the time when other skills on cooldown, but this what i prefer overall.
But as i tested [Gae Bulg] it's enough to have lvl 1, due to effect 'Damaged enemies will temporarily become weaker to physical property attacks' happens on the lvl 1 too.
[Dragon Soar] is a multihit skill, 5 hits, kind a reminder.

1) In scope of Tank head forward with Swordsman C1 > Peltsta C3 > Rodelero C3 > Murmilo C1.
It will be hell to level up to Rank 8 but on the Rank 8 it will reward you effort.
2) If you want to play this build make Peltasta C1 on the Rank 2 instead of Swordsman C2, coz when i designed this build i expected myself playing solo. Peltasta C1 will help a lot in the party.
3) Regarding Lancer. You can scroll down, i made some damage calculations (not DPS comparison, just raw burst damage calculations) and it shows that going Dragoon C2 is better then Lancer C1. But it's up to you what to choose.

- Only [Swash Buckling] skill
Rank 3 is level 55-78, so i would assume you can re-do character.
Small tip for new player, get add-ons from the description and make all "Creature Kill Achievements" and "Map Exploration Achivements" to get rewards from "Wings of Liboria" manager. (Klypeda right side from the Warp Statue)
Also you can check your progress in F4 window in "Monsters" section, it will be X/Y values, where X is already killed mobs and Y is an goal.
- Use All LVL 1 XP Cards near level 40
- Use All LVL 2 XP Cards near level 65-70
- Preserve LVL 3 XP Cards for level 130-150
- As soon as you satisfy conditions to enter dungeons make it 5 runs daily, preferred with XP BOOKs. (For example dungeon lvl 90, w/Token,w/Book gives you 3-4 levels per run)

There are many "holy-wars" on the Swordsman C2 vs Peltasts C1 on rank 2.
Both builds good in a different ways:
1) Getting Hoplite C3 gives you [Finestra] 15.
This is 150 Critical Rate and +30% Block.
- Critical Chance increase will be [Critical Rate]*(42/[Character Level]) = 150 * (42/280) = 150 * 0.15 = +22.5% Critical Chance
So [Finestra] by itself provide 22% Critical Chance. We don't need to calculate exact critical chance for this build, due to Critical Rate will be more with 2 x Sisel Bands, Rank 7* Green Gems x 3 and DEX.
Block stat irrelevant due to update, STR provide Block Penetration now. So forget about this stat once and for all, they killed it.
2) From other side [Lydeka] provide so much boost to your damage. And [Earth Weave] is a multi-hit damaging skill, number of hits equal to skill level, so at max you get 15 hit skill. And high mobility from [Throt].
But thats probably all you get, quite low amount of skills till Dragoon C1. [Stabbing], [Pierce], [Earth Weave], [Doom Spike].
3) Pommel is low level skill that helps to level up faster, no use in the end game.

And added to all skills damage calculation formulas.
From other side [Concentrate] bonus damage added to only Basic attacks and [Stabbing], all other skills doesn't benefit from [Concentrate].
We need [Bash] only to get [Knokdown] attribute on the Swordsman C2. Damage is bad.

What do you mean by 100% Critical Chance ?
For current state of the game you will have max 56% Critical Chance. But in most cases in scope of World Bosses and PvP you will have 41%.
Critical Chance formula is: ([Your Critical Rate] - [Enemy Critical Defence]) x (42 / [Your Base Level]).
Where:
- [Your Critical Rate] is summary of all Critical Rate increase effects + DEX
- [Enemy Critical Defence] is CON value in scope of PvP and static values in scope of PvE, you can find this parameter in TOSbase monster description.
So according to formula and skill effects [Finestra] provide 150 Critical Rate and 80 DEX same amount. Green Gem 7* provide 44 Critical Rate if in the main Weapon and 57 if in the Shield. You can have 2 gems in the Spear weapon. Average [Critical Block] value we will count as 100, coz most players want to have 100 CON.
([80 + 150 + 44x2 + 57] - [100]) x 0.15 = 41%
In case of [Critical Block] is 0 you will get 56% Critical Chance.

You wouldn't probably use [Stabbing] later on Dragoon coz it has good multihit skills with average cooldowns.
[Stabbing] is still wierd coz it locks you in place and you need to press buttons to deal damage.

you "cant" use other skill with serpentine until the animation ends, you can cancel it if you jump (same with stabbing) but serpentine its a bit faster than stabbing,

my common combo with my dragoon its: Spear Lunger 1 > Serpentine > Stabbing, the time its enough to deal all the damage you can while spear lunger effect its still up.

then the second its: Spear lunger 2 > Dragoon Tooth, Piercing and whatever thing you have up.

but you see the problem of being "locked" with the animation isnt the build itself, its swordman in general, where their animation its longer than other classes that you feel like "you cant use any other skill if you se this" take for example pierce, take a big amount of time to be used, player lift spear > hold it a bit in his shoulder, then hit, then wait for the numbers show up > then you can move.

so pretty much before to use your skill be sure to have pain barrier if the boss/enemy knockdown a lot, and then deploy everything you have. this why you have to study most of the enemy pattern before you can choose when to attack so you dont waste the skills.

@anderson_mith not necessary. Depends on what you want to do. and where you are at with it.
Just make sure not to invest into SPR, Generally speaking 50-80 dex 50-80 con rest in STR and you should be fine.
You will have harder times at getting in grind parties, but with enough gears(enough meaning Demonas Gauntlets and that new boot with Magic Def, + grynas chest piece and pants) you should do just fine soloing your way up.

Peltasta: [Guardian] 1, [Rim Blow] 4
Coz you probably don't need Guardian higher then level 1 due to you always will have [Gung Ho] on you
Cataphract: [Rush] 3, [Steed Charge] 1, [Impaler] 1
[Impaler] in case you do want to try out PvP, this will help you.
[Steed Charge] 1 is a 357 damage in a mobility skill and [Rush] scales like a 85 damage per level with same time of usage, up to 10 sec.
Dragoon C1: try to use my distribution for current build, i found it optimal in scope of damage, it is spreaded among all skills but all skills doing suitable amount of damage after all.
Dragoon C2 vs Lancer C1. This is where it becomes interesting.
[Dragontooth] lvl 10: 298 more damage then level 5, 298x5 = 1490 damage increase total.
[Serpentine] lvl 7: 169 more damage then level 5, 169x4 = 676 damage increase total.
[Dragon Soar] 7: 232 more damage then level 4, 232x5 = 1160 damage increase total.
[Dethrone] lvl 5: Lets pretend you have 1k PATK, (16570+1000)x2 = 35140 damage increase total.
So going Dragoon C2 results in 1490+676+1160+35140 = 38,466 points of damage.
Lancer C1:
[Crush] lvl 5: 6543 dmg, (6543+1000)x2 = 15086
[Joust] lvl 1: 3676 dmg, 3676+1000=4676
[Unhorsing] lvl 1: 3028 dmg, 3028+1000=4028, not sure if you can use this on player/creature without mount or if it will deal x3 hits.
[Quintain] lvl 5: 8683 dmg, (8683+1000)x2=19366
So total we get 15086+4676+4028+19366=43,156 points of damage.
In case of Dragoon C2 you also get attribute for [Serpentine] that will increase all damage by 100%
So yeah Dragoon C2 got more damage for now.

@anderson_mith actually Cata3 is PVP focused... so regarding to PVE, its DPS was not that great......
if you manage to get rank 6 and get rush lvl 5, actually your build can do PVP better than Rugal build.
though you get the fun of rush lv15 very2 fast movement.
take impaler 1, its fun to use. really
dragon soar also need to take, its multi hit, damage wise its the same with serpentine, so take it, gae bulg not worth it lvl 5, attribute only give 2% not worth the skill points. the other skill is A okay

well this based on my experience. im leveling right now the chivalry build (the alternate) and a build i made for my templar (based on some class from the chivalry build) both have stabbing but only the templar build have Synchro Thrusting.

the alternate chivalry build frm this guide its: sw2, hop 2, cata 2, dragoon 2.
the templar im doing: sw1, pelt1, hop 1, cata 1, squire 2, templar 1.

with the chivalry i have stabbing at 10, and with the templar i have it at 5 (since i dont have hop2 there).

im going to talk about the templar build because that one have synchro trusting, since it have hoplite 1, i place my point like: Stabbing 5, Pierce 1, Synchro Trusting 4, Finestra 5, since i dont feel pierce wouldnt worth it unless you use it with spear lunger, but we could say the same about synchro trusting.

since my templar build have petalsta, i use synchro trusting with umbo blow. as i use umbo blow to knockdown enemies (or hit the ones i blocked) and if i have one enemy still alive and dont want to waste time killing it with auto attack or with another skill (that would mean i would have CD on such kill) i use synchro trusting, since the time they spent on the floor its enough to use synchro trusting 1 or 2 times (if you like) on them.

i dont use a lot pierce with the templar build i rarely use it (only L enemies and Bosses) but enemies going around there no. synchro trusting in other hand i use it a lot since i feel its a good skill to use along with umbo blow (specially blocked enemies). unlike chivalry build since it have spear lunger (hop2) then i feel worth more to use pierce.

So pretty much you can leave synchro trusting at 1 if you feel going to use pierce 4 a lot or synchro trusting at 4 and leave pierce at 1 if you think it worth more to use synchro trusting with umbo blow combo

Calculation simulation:
PATK: 1000
Shield DEF: 120 (Average shield with small upgrades)
Stabbing 1 vs 15:
Only difference is static damage increase lvl 1: 73 and lvl 15: 399 and 20 hits you can make with it.
We will count only plain damage here without Critical Damage calculation. This we will do later.
399-73=326 damage difference x 20 = 7520
(1000+73) x 20 = 21460 total damage. So level 15 Stabbing deals 35% more damage then Level 1
ST 1 vs 15:
Difference in static damage (724-181)x2=1086
Damage is 1000+181+(1000+120x5+181) = 2962
So level 15 will deal 36% more damage.
Now let's calculate our Crit chance and damage.
[Critical Chance] formula: ([YOUR Critical Rate] - [TARGET'S Critical Resistance])x(42/[Your Base Level]) = %
[Critical Damage] formula: [PATK]x1.5 + [Critical Attack] = damage, [PATK] - is your basic attack, in case you use skill it will be [Basic Damage] + [Skills Static damage] = [PATK]
Critical Chance vs 0 Crit Res: ([80+150] - 0)x0.15=34.5%
Critical Chance vs 100 Crit Res: (230-100)x0.15=19.5%
So VS 100 CON targets almost 20% chance is sweet.
Next calculations i am going to do is for 100 hits, due to you can get 100% critical chance. So 34% crit chance are 34 hits out of 100.
Stabbing lvl 15, 34% Crit: ((399+1000)x1.5 + 249)x34 + (399+1000)x66 = 79815 + 92334 = 172,149
Stabbing lvl 15, 19% Crit: ((399+1000)x1.5 + 249)x19 + (399+1000)x81 = 44602 + 113319 = 157,921
ST lvl 15, 34% Crit: (2962x1.5+249)x34 + 2962x66 = 159528 + 195492 = 355,020
ST lvl 15, 19% Crit: (2962x1.5+ 249)x19 + 2962x81 = 89148 + 239841 = 328,989
So what we have here, it is not DPS it is plain damage you get, now let's calculate what time we actually need to land this 100 hits.
In case of [Stabbing] we deal 20 hits for 1 cd, 25 sec, so we need 5 activation of the skill, it's a 5-1 CDs.
25 sec x 4 = 100 sec and DPS will be [Damage]/[Time]
- 34%: 172149 / 100 = 1721 DPS (Damage per second)
- 19%: 157921 / 100 = 1579 DPS
In case of ST we can use it 2 times per CD and we need 50 CD to deal 100 hits, so yeah with 15 sec CD we get 50-1 x 15 = 735 sec
- 34%: 355020 / 735 = 483 DPS
- 19%: 328989 / 735 = 447 DPS
So yeah you can see that [Stabbing] is actually deals x3+ times more damage then ST, but still we calculated it in ideal situation when you deal all 20 hits.
What can i say to end this, i feel ST is more consistent way to deal damage, i feel like i can spam ST every time coz i know it will off the CD pretty soon and regarding Stabbing i have that feeling like i need to gather enough mobs to deal massive damage to them, coz i can't use it in 1-2 mobs it has high cooldown on it, but same time i catch myself dying having 5+ mobs on me while Stabbing them and ST gives me that [Block] when second hit dealt with Shield.
So it's up to you what to choose lvl 15 Stabbing or lvl 15 ST, coz [Pierce] suck hard in comparison to this 2 skills.

pretty much its why i dont leveled pierce only leaving as 1 skill point. while chivalry build have pierce i dont find myself using it a lot unless i dont have any other skill ready and only on bosses with galin trident after spear lunger.

my main problen with stabbing its: if servers lags, or you get some kind of FPS loss due mages or cleric spamming skills, you lose the stabbing stance and that mean lose the damage and wait for the CD. thats something that happens to me in Mercenary quest mission when everyone spam skills and in the end when i try stabbing in that moment its like i only pressed the button to use the skill but then leave alone the button without press it again. same thing happens if you lag a lot. only register like 2 or 3 times button pressed after that the skill its lost.

i could have leave pierce as 0 and add it to ST so i could have:
Stabbing 5, Synchro Trusting 5, Finestra 5 on my templar. but i havent tried pierce with bleeding attribute at max since it says bleeding its based according to your physical attack. so probably its better to leave it as 1 and max the bleeding attribute.

but i dont going to deny after playing your build with ST (original build) i know how useful its. same with stabbing after trying but have more cons than ST, works wonder but if something interrupt you its pretty much "you may not use this right now".

ST its part of my common combo when i knock down enemies, either with morchdslag or umbo blow (if the build have petalsta)

thats means u need it on 10! not 8! log in on Tree of savior
check it comeback and do the MATH

Bash is terrible weak and if u need help in lvling on lvls 1-75 make archer :D
also i wanna ask about punish 1 point, why?
its hard to use and as 1 point deals same dmg as mordschlag 1 point
Hoplite is AA based class so adding points to bash or punish make no sense

Meh it's not a big mistake, it's not a mistake at all.
Level 8 vs Level 10 is 2 hits difference and 3 basic damage.
(STR x 0.04 + DEX x 0.02) x (Level - 1)
Level 8: (200x0.04+60x0.02)x7 = 64,4 x 16 = 64 x 16 = 1024
Level 10: 3+(200x0.04+60x0.02)x9 = 85,8 x 18 = 85 x 18 = 1530
Yeah you win another 506 damage.
Bash is not for damage it is for [Knockback] same regarding [Punish] that can be used after [Bash].

Actually you get +706 to Concentrate damage, only to auto-attacks, due to attribute's +100 damage and due to it will have additional 2 hits.

I suffered 100 levels of this nonsense when I started the game blind, not to mention the fact that the build keeps changing so you'll have to keep rerolling your characters to fit this.

1/10 build will reroll again to fail.

Welcome to Swordsman class, if you like suffering try to level up Peltasta C3.
Things got better in scope of leveling when you get [Spear Throw], even better on ranks 6/7/8.
Try playing Archer class, they are prety easy, no matter what classes you choose.

@lafuan not really. for swordman SPR is useless... totally useless..... you know how much Alchemist is..... SP pot was cheap, very cheap..... if you still don't want to buy SP pots, bonfire will do the trick.
on a not to rugal... on the scale of 600 lvl, throw that 55 points to your already big STR, you will see how much that actually upped your str
