Bastian Schweinsteiger 'not a topic' for New York Red Bulls

New York Red Bulls have ruled out making a move for Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Schweinsteiger has yet to make an appearance for United under new manager Jose Mourinho this season and MLS commissioner Don Garber has said the American league would welcome the arrival of the former Germany captain.
The 32-year-old's contract at Old Trafford expires in June 2018 and he has said United will be his "last club in Europe", but it appears the Red Bulls will not be his next destination.
"Bastian Schweinsteiger is a great player with a great career. But there have been no conversations, he isn't and will not be a topic for us," Red Bulls' Oliver Mintzlaff told German daily Bild.
Other MLS teams are still likely to be interested in signing the ex-Bayern Munich star, with FC Dallas president Dan Hunt recently declaring his admiration for the midfielder.

Garber said earlier this week: "We would receive Bastian with open arms. He would be a leader for many of our young players.
"Of course, we're following exactly what happened with Bastian."
