Now it's a mere 23-hour election coverage!

As far as I'm concerned it's just gone from coverage of 1 enormous destructive mass with a man's name blowing hot air to a second one.

Edit: I would've made this exact joke towards Clinton had it been a female hurricane.

One's about to go on a bad tear and the other just has bad hair.

Trump's been known to go on mad tears too.

latenightandroid

Edit: I would've made this exact joke towards Clinton had it been a female hurricane.

Something something Hurricane Nicole hanging out in the Atlantic, but not demanding nearly as much attention (yet).

Did you just assume's Matthew's gender?

This joke was funny in like 2010 i think not sure

I'm already seen multiple articles on, "how Hurricane Mathew will effect the election!" 😄🔫

[–]d_zastor_masterzov 9ポイント10ポイント  (0子コメント)

I hope it wins. The hurricane is a jerk but at least he's not a democrat.

I mean, I would hope so. Who knows how this hurricane is going to effect the spread of Zika.

when an actual storm is better than a shitstorm.

I mean, there's probably shit in this actual storm, too.

Yea, but like a much smaller percentage.

I don't doubt that at all but I'm still mildly disgusted and chuckling

Just wait for the political shit storm to start up after this, Hildog will sort through rubble and take pictures, Trump will buy his own EMS service. Who will win?!?!

Trump will buy contract his own EMS service and after 120 days of use will not pay them, get sued, and claim they werent up to his standards.

Yeah, but, they won't get to the scenes fast enough for him to feel the need to pay them.

The actual storm will pass, though. The shitstorm is here for another month.

I wanted to vote for that life-ending comet, but it doesn't look like he's running. Guess I'll give my vote to Matthew.

Also kills 300 people in Haiti.

So, maybe not so good Hurricane Matthew.

Oh but they're black so nobody cares

Gotta use that /s son. It's like coming in with a hard r.

Guess i'll ride this storm

Probably not as much as you'd think with the default subreddit crowd nowadays.

Yeah no one cared when the earthquake wrecked their country... oh wait

Quite possibly dozens or hundreds in the US as well.

I'm not convinced we should be laughing about this.

Im currently in Florida and I am laughing. Its probably all the liquor.

[–]Dokpsy 0

It's either laughing or crying. Which do you choose?

Hopefully Wyclef Jean can help them this time.

Nah, he's gone til November

Yeah I'm real sorry about all that

I wonder how many of those deaths could have been avoided with proper shelter. The kind of shelter we donated millions of dollars to build after the eathquakes.

Matthew got me a day off...got my vote

Mathew got me from Wednesday to nest Tuesday off, I just hope he leaves my house in okay shape

and the other candidates are all like creating jobs, duh!

We need more fact checkers?

take a break from watching your country get fucked up, to watch your country get fucked up.

Our country is "fucked up" in a lot of ways, but at least we have more available resources to recover from natural disasters. If you lived in Haiti, for example, you'd be really fucked right now.

We will end up helping them

We already are helping Haiti for hurricane relief.

[–]Dokpsy 1

Are we though? Didn't the last batch get sent elsewhere instead?

In before hillary starts buying adds on the weather channel.

[–]Murican_Freedom1776 17ポイント18ポイント  (11子コメント)

What..what do I believe?

That we're going to get fucked by this hurricane and then fucked by this election.

Man, /r/The_Donald is getting triggered big time.

How is it her fault if her campaign put in the request to delay the ads? And why would you trust some random person on the internet who has no evidence rather than news articles?

Edit: the top comment there is about Hillary taking advantage of people in a crisis. Donald would never do that.

The answer to the second question is that it's the_donald. What else do you expect from them?

As if the article that states her campaign requested to delay the ads is any more reputable than a post on /r/the_donald.

I think he was joking, though with the_donald involved we can't be certain.

They posts to TRP and their comment history points to alt-right. Unfortunately I don't think they are joking.

They're probably referring to this.

[–]_Big_Baby_Jesus_ 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Why is that a bad thing? She's trying to get people to see her ads, particularly Floridians. That seems like a pretty smart place to buy time. It's not like the commercials are preempting hurricane news. If they weren't showing Hillary ads, they would be showing some other ad.

... Along with 200 Haitians.

Good guy matthew is a mass murderer.

By killing over 100 people

Over 300 now, and more to come...

I finally got my own meme!

More proof that Obama owns a weather machine and cooks up Hurricanes when it's election time and he wants to kill any momentum the competition has. Hurricane Sandy forced Chris Christie to praise Obama which turned the tides for him in 2012. How convenient that Hurricane Matt is expected to hit landfall in Florida where Trump has the majority of his golf courses.
/s

Obama would like you to believe that he has a machine capable of that. It's much simpler... he just sends a bunch of his homosexual friends down to Florida to get nasty with each other, and then God smites the coast with a hurricane.

Actually I think Hillary was making strides after the last two debates, this steals the wind from those sails a little IMO.

But I'm sure after the next shitstorm of a debate where trump starts throwing actual feces into the audience we should be back on track.

Actually if an incumbent handles a natural disaster properly, it tends to bolster support for them. Sometimes (though to a lesser degree) it can also bolster support for their party. At worst (politically speaking) it freezes polls in place. I think it hurts trump more since he is simply running out of time.

I agree to the extent that i think it bolsters governors, I don't remember any presidents that got a boost from a storm.

Oh god. I bet something incredibly stupid is going to come out of Trump's mouth or twitter account about how he can relate to the inevitable loss of lives by losing his golf courses.

Matthew got me out of 2 tests I hadn't studied for, 2 paid days to work from home, a $40 steak diner, and a date with a girl ridiculously out of my league. Matt is alright in my books.

Posts like these make me happy I don't watch cable TV. I have seen zero political advertisements for either party this election cycle.

Cut the cord people.

WUT? I pass billboards on the way to work. I heard a pro Hill ad on the radio that said Trump would be the biggest threat to national security, (My brain did a hard reset on that one and I almost ran off the road) My local chain gas station has Hillary and Trump cookies at the front counter, I got a pro Trump ad in my friggen mail box.

Please tell me of this magical land that is free from the insanity. How's the rent?

I don't listen to the radio, ever. I work from home. I don't look at billboards while I'm driving. :) I also don't use the US mail service. Pay my bills online. Nothing but junk mail and garbage I have to throw away when I was getting my mail.

You must be in a contested state/district. I don't watch TV or listen to the radio either, but aside from the occasional lawn sign I really haven't seen much campaign advertising this year. Not even junk mail.

I live in a very liberal area, though, so probably not worth anyone's time to advertise here.

I'm in South Florida and I'm happy it came too. 2 free days off? I'll take that shit any day.

That's the real problem, I wish we'd wake up and say "hey, why are we letting this system we've built to keep us fed, warm, and dry, forcing us to give 80% of our daily lives?"

Labor day is a joke, the entire service industry still reports to work, we need more days off to enjoy our lives, how about one extra day a month for Christ's sake?

And definitely make election day a national holiday.

Where are you getting 80%?

Sounded good, what's 5 days out of 7 percentage wise?

You work 24, or even 18 hours per day?

A work day is devoted to getting ready for work, driving to work, sleeping, getting home for work and doing the rest of the BS that has to be done in order to maintain a working lifestyle I.e., laundry, food prep, etc.

I might even get to be able to get an hour in at the gym, so yes a work day is devoted to work. I don't consider the hour and a half of free time any kind of fair trade.

Well agree to disagree I guess, I have a half hour commute, work 8 hours plus a 30 minute commute. The rest of the day is mine. Take a nap, watch Netflix with my wife. Whatever I want.

I don't like my job by any means but they pay me for my time and I don't expect anything more.

You drive to work on your pajamas? No you have to get up and get ready subtract an hour, you have to make and eat dinner that's something you have to do, subtract that, laundry, the rest of the minutia... serfs in midevil England didn't have as long a work day as we do, I actually DO like my job, but everybody is working for the weekend, nobody looks forward to a Tuesday night.

I'm happy you're cool with it, but it doesn't have to be this way.

Would I not shower, get dressed or eat dinner if I didn't have to work? It's absurd to count laundry, meals, showering and whatever else as part of your work-day.

You mean 40/168

And that if you only work a part time 40 hour/week job

Well I can't do very much when I'm sleeping, or trying to sleep like right now.

[–]_Big_Baby_Jesus_ 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Most people do get labor day off. And if those people are going to "enjoy their lives" on their long weekend, that pretty much requires the service industry to serve them.

I agree that election day should be a holiday. I'm sure Martin Luther King would gladly give up his day for it.

AND now my house is stocked with surplus of every booze, non perishable, paper product, candle battery huge closet of water, shed of gasoline and full tank of propane! Things we normally get one by one, it's all done. No power outage! Love u good guy whoever!

[–]Murican_Freedom1776 9ポイント10ポイント  (0子コメント)

Don't worry, the totally 100% informative and fair /r/politics has you covered for all your election coverage needs. /s

Tough shit. Hillary bought ads on the weather channel in Florida.

No. her campaign bought them nationally.

Quite a few similar comments appeared elsewhere on the Internet in 2012, when Hurricane Sandy was approaching.

You should stop watching that shit

This man's cup is 1% full

This shit is almost like House of Cards.

Can you not say kill, could you use a nicer word? Something like... I don't know... hamburger time?

I was just thinking how relieved all these talking heads must be to have something else to ramble on about.

I'm actually excitem to follow the news the next couple of days!

I went surfing today this hurricane was ok

Hurricane isn't today

It passed Ft Lauderdale already which is where i am

Also killed over 300 people already.

[–]Kierik 3

They will be back and in greater numbers.

I cant wait to see how both candidates will exploit this in the aftermath.

Might be interesting because the east coast of Florida contains the largest concentration of democrats.

Serious question what the f is wrong with you? This storm is killing people, and it looks like when I get back home, my home won't be there. Have fun your jokes you fucking insensitive assholes!

Agreed. I just can't stand Clinton's ugly face on television anymore

And yet again, basic human decency is no match for a stupid joke on reddit.

Only one month left! Woohoo!

That's not the only thing it's killed.

Not on CNN. They have a video in the corner but it's still all Trillarump all the time.

Except that it may also kill my relatives and boss.

I dunno, Kos and the weather channel seem to be about tied with alerts. At least the Weather Channel ones don't sound like they were written by a twelve year old.

I haven't watched TV or the "news" in years. I'm as happy as a pig in shit.

Good guy? It prevented 100000 people from voting on October the 2nd in Colombia

Kills 24 hour election coverage (and people....)

Just wait until the candidates get into the post storm shitstorm...

Well thanks for reminding everyone, Scumbag OP.

But there is a downside to storm coverage which is idiot reporters putting themselves in danger.

Less damaging, too!

Conveniently at the same time as another Hillary leak

first time I see GGG used in a cynical way.

Seriously though, to anyone still in evacuation zones PLEASE stay safe. I rather people laugh about "overreacting" to this hurricane after the fact instead of people dying because they didn't react enough or at all.

As well as hundreds of people...

You're welcome.

I don't think Hurricane Matthew was the October surprise most Florida residents were hoping for.

kills more than that I'm sure

Hopefully that's the only thing it kills

They still find a way to make it political. I heard an interview today where the reporter asked a city official (mayor maybe) whose city in Florida was being evacuated about the voter registration deadlines. Apparently the Governor has refused to extend the deadline even though a lot of people will be displaced for a time and the deadline is next week.

That was the govenor they asked and apparently after talking to one of the campaigns they thought it'd be a good question.

The coverage of his election is identical to sports center, 'cept both teams suck

Hey Matthew! Mind making a stop over my neighborhood!

My idiot friend is currently hunkering down in a motel at Atlantic Beach Florida, I hope that idiot doesn't die.

Can't wait to see how tomorrow will play out.

Heres something to lighten the mood. https://youtu.be/7wopNdLgrBk

[–]north_by_southeast 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

And my econ midterm that I was not prepared for

At least in West Palm they're still running campaign spots during the hurricane coverage.

Zer is no escape from zis camp.

140+ winds will kill just about anything

Fuck, came here to calm my nerves and avoid storm coverage (reporting from my fortress in Cocoa FL) and this is the first thing I see...I'm delirious and this is just amazingly funny right now. Thanks!!! Lolololol

300+ deaths funny to you, asshole?

Oh i can't wait to hear about how the candidates are touring the disaster areas and how their hearts go out the victims and they stand in solidaryity and yadayadayadayadayada.... /s

[–]Qumbo 0

I really can't believe how insensitive this post and comment section are, in the last 24 hours this storm has claimed around 300 lives. Have some respect.

"see guys im not so bad, the hurricane killed more people than I did in benghazi!"

-hillary clinton

Jesus, didn't even realize I was being downvoted... sorry guys. It was meant as a lighthearted note.... I don't see the harm since Johnson only has 30% name recognition it only seems fair people know he's out there

CTR (CorrectTheRecord) presence is real here..

Better news... You don't have to watch this horrible Thursdays night football game.

Yeah, but she asked to extend voter registration... I have a feeling that would've happened anyway. But hey thanks for showing concern for our safety.

kills 24 hour election coverage and everyone else in florida

Though still about as good for the country as either Clinton or Trump.

Kills...TRIGGERED

Hopefully it kills more than that

I have heard some people saying. Not me mind you. But very well respected people...they're saying that Hillary Clinton once said, if she had indeed gave birth to a boy...she would have named him Matthaios, the Greek form of the Hebrew name Mattiyahu, meaning "gift of Yahweh". In other words, Matthew!!!

I'm not sayin she gave birth to a Hurricane. What I am asking you to do is to be smart, use your brains, and come to your own conclusions.

But we get hurricane Matthew coverage sponsored by Hillary. If the hurricane doesn't kill you, she might.

That and for the first time in decades, there may be a hurricane in Miami that isn't a thug.
