Donald Trump pronounced Nevada as "Ne-VAH-duh" during a campaign rally in Reno on Wednesday.
The crowd could be heard laughing, though one reporter said there was some confusion in the crowd.
Trump told the crowd he was saying the state's name correctly, adding that nobody said it "the other way."
A friend pronounced it incorrectly and "was killed" for it, he said.
It's not clear if Trump was simply joking with the crowd. Some reporters said he appeared to be self-deprecating. He said "We love Nevada" to start the rally, using the "Ne-VA-da" pronunciation.
It's not the first time the Republican presidential nominee said "Ne-VAH-duh" though.
