Didn't LVG's United beat Pochettino's Tottenham in his first season? How did they manage that? [Tactical Analysis Request] (self.reddevils)

First off, this is not meant to be a jab at City. Tottenham under Poch have become such a formidable team over the years that it now seems unfathomable that they would lose to that Utd team of the past.

Also:

  • Do you think this team can beat high pressing teams like Liverpool and Tottenham? If yes, how? I'm pretty doubtful atm.

His first season we drew away while home we beat them 3-0. Iirc the 3-0 game we did all the work in the first half. Didn't let them create anything, we had all the possession and our passing was too fluid for them to intercept. It was the way LVG wanted us to play under him and it might have been his best game in terms of a win with a clean sheet.

Unfathomable? LVG has a great record against top clubs. The second fixture with the Spurs and the first match-up with Arsenal last season are the only times the team didn't perform against top clubs (although I really wouldn't consider the Spurs a top club).
