He was solid, no major errors. Physicality was there. This was a good game to ease him in, as he wasn't really tested defensively. Not as dangerous of an attacking threat as Tony V down the right, but he frankly looks like him (similar build and fast). I know we all want him to be a CDM, but I can see him locking down RB after Tony V, especially given how good fullbacks have to be with the ball now.

We all want him to play in CDM position but we have got too many players in CDM position(Schniderlin, Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini). And after a season or two we have to buy RB.
TfM has got pace, power, tackles well, is great going forward and looks comfortable in that position too(he will adapt, 3 seasons ago it was really impossible to think Valencia would play in RB and last season it was even impossible to think he would be able to bench Darmian).

So, if we will be able to develop him in RB position then we don't really have to haunt every club to buy player who can play RB position(or simply we can save 25-40m).

We can invest that money on players like W.Carvalho, Krychowiak, Tielemans, Verrati, Julian Weigl.

IMO he is not the CDM as we need...he will be Fellaini kind of CDM - brutal force, destroyer but he lacks smartness, technique etc. - I don't understand why we are looking for CDM when we've got Ander who can play as deep lying playmaker

TFM is CB for me - pace, physicality, good in the air, good in tackles - everything's there, he only lacks experience to play there, that's why he plays at RB, because any RB's mistake can be saved by CB, but not so much vice versa

I think it's clear to see he's not a right back. He can't cross the ball either.

Darmian has to be our second choice, not FM.
