Harness the energy that surrounds us. ArcSling converts kinetic energy into electricity.
About this project
The ArcSling Motion Converter turns kinetic energy into electricity. It's a portable device that can harvest movements around us for use with our everyday devices.
Equipped with a 20 Watt generator, two 5V USB ports and a 12V output port, the ArcSling Motion Converter can provide power for most of your mobile needs including smartphones, Go Pros, GPS units and even tablet PC's. The ArcSling Motion Converter does not contain an internal battery - the electricity is generated instantly. Thus it doesn't just trickle charge and top off previously charged internal batteries like many other portable renewable energy devices. ArcSling can however be paired with external batteries through either the 5V or 12V ports for added flexibility.
The current prototype is over-built to ensure it provides sufficient electricity. The production version will keep most of the internal mechanism and circuitry, but the case and attachments will have a new design. Functionality will be improved, while weight and dimensions for the total system will be smaller and lighter. Currently, the main unit weighs 5 pounds and measures 8x8x3 inches but requires at least 15 square inches to allow for the attachments and movement.
Early prototype simulation
The portable ArcSling Motion Converter will demonstrate the viability of a mechanical kinetic energy harvesting device for use in localized power generation. Support for this project will also enable further development (with the help of partners) of larger units for use offshore and on-board sea craft. The on-board unit would be the first of it's kind while the offshore unit can be the first practical large-scale Wave Energy Converter.

Risks and challenges
The prototype ArcSling Motion Converter has excess space and weight which can be eliminated. The case and attachments will have a new design for the production version so the total system will be smaller and lighter, with improved functionality as well.
Fortunately the prototype works well and the internal mechanisms and circuitry will remain largely unchanged. However the normal risks associated with taking a mechanical device from prototype to mass production pertain. Though we feel we have set a realistic timeline, we will inform backers of any serious problems which may delay delivery, whether they be internal to our company or throughout our supply chain.
