No, these were the six touches.
I noticed them live, and they were clearly signals. I thought at the time they were signals to her coaches backstage to deliver a zinger into her earpiece.
There's no way to tell. This theory is as good as mine.
Edit: also notable: Trump had zero touches. After Clinton's first two I thought maybe the makeup was itchy or the lights were causing sweat. Throughout the ninety minutes Clinton had six touches and Trump had zero.
Signals. Without a doubt. For whom, and for what...unknown.

Omg, well this one is a little weird, considering her coughing fits. At the MSNBC debate they don't use the dual camera style but her dumbass seems to cough twice every time she wants a rebuttal, I'm not lying I've noticed it twice already.

Earpiece makes more sense to me simply because she doesn't need to signal Holt in a one-on-one debate format. Even if Holt did change the subject on her, all she'd have to say is "Before I get to that question, I'd like to respond to something Donald said." I've seen politicians use that line in almost every debate I've seen.
But she was definitely signaling someone... I just don't think it was the moderator. Someone in an earpiece makes sense.

I agree.
It's true that Holt did go back to Clinton after each of these touches (eventually, in some cases), but he also went back to her in similar form many times without them.
So the relationship between these events seems tenuous to me.
Holt asked biased questions toward the end, but Clinton signaled throughout. Holt was biased throughout, but he did not seem, to my eye, to change his level of bias at any point throughout.
Nor should he, it should be pointed out. Holt answering to dog whistles is a pretty ridiculous ploy, even for the Clintons.
As is usual with the Clintons, I think multiple layers of cheating were happening simultaneously. That is much stealthier and much more difficult to untangle and detect.
At least two of these layers are visible to my satisfaction. Layer one would be the earpiece, with the signals.
Layer two would be compromising the moderator, which I think other analysts have shown did occur.
So, both wheels are spinning. Holt is lobbing softballs to Clinton, and Clinton is getting help from backstage.
Trump is getting screwballs, and has no help because he foolishly followed the "no earpiece" stipulation.
That's not a particularly flattering image of Trump, I should mention. I think he underestimated the opponent and got blindsided. He needs to learn yesterday that there is no honesty in politics.

I can't speak for Hillary, but I would think there's no way Trump wears an earpiece. He's too high energy and in control to cede it to someone not in the room. If someone is talking into your ear, you can't get them to shut up without taking out the earpiece. I would hate that if I was debating. No way Trump has one.

I watched the C-SPAN feed, with both candidates visible at all times. I didn't see an earpiece either, and I was looking.
Still I feel confident it was there.
After each of these touches, Clinton's head movements and eye movements signal she's listening. She takes notes, even, writing down what she hears.
Trump takes no notes. Trump gives zero signals. Trump is just being Trump. We all know he didn't cheat or even prepare. He's the perfect control subject for this experiment.

The thing is, candidates usually beg for speaking time during debates. Trump should have been thrilled to monopolize speaking time throughout the debate. If I was him I would have said: "I'll make a deal right here tonight.. if Hillary releases her Goldman Sachs speech transcripts and there's nothing in them that contradicts what she's been telling the voters throughout her campaign I will drop out of the race.. Well that's the thing... if this was really just horseshit speeches or non-existent speeches that means she still couldn't release them.. and the fact that she's not releasing them even after Trump says "if you release them and they don't show you are lying to your voters I'll drop out" that'd plant a pretty serious seed in the heads of voters. The big "get out the vote" push she's making is about how everyone needs to do whatever they can to stop Trump from taking office. Bernie is currently going on a tour talking about how this year isn't the year to vote third party because they're afraid that hurts Hillary... if the main focus is "stop Trump" Hillary can do that herself if she will release her speech transcripts and they don't show she's been lying. Once she doesn't release them even after Trump says he'd drop out if they show she's been honest to the voters about the content of those speeches she'll look like she's hiding something even worse than whatever Trump is hiding by not releasing his taxes. It'll remove her ability to use that attack on Trump about his taxes.

Read the other post and look at the pictures and watch the video, after they step off the stage someone from Clinton's side goes to her podium to grab her pills first, then notepad, then comes back and goes under the podium to (most likely) take out the tablet or w.e it is in there, he spends quite some time reaching under the podium trying to get to something, meanwhile no one even steps to Trumps podium once and you can see under and on top of it it's just empty.

I rewatched the whole thing and, after seeing it for the first time live I initially came out of it thinking that Hillary did better because of the zingers. But upon rewatch I was really trying to watch her from a more neutral perspective if I could to see if I could see things from other people's point of view. If this was what was going on, Trump did a good job throwing the timing off by keeping his train of thought going. He also didn't get rattled like Mittens did when Candy Cowley pulled her shit.
Unfortunately this is one of the dirtiest elections in politics, with an unbelievable amount of muckracking and mudslinging, outright partisan media, and a pervasive odor of corruption coming from the left.
Lester Holt did not a good or balanced job during that debate. He was clearly and objectively more concerned with controlling Trump, even above keeping control of the debate itself. His "fact-checking" had no place in a debate, and he was outright arguing with Trump on points of fact multiple times. A moderator's job is to ask questions and give candidates a fair time allottment to respond. When a moderator starts asserting points of fact, he becomes another debater.
The only way Trump cuts through this is to rope-a-dope Clinton. Let her waste her time trying to sling mud at Trump, which Trump should either ignore, or dismiss with a one-liner, the timing and delivery of which, he's mastered. One-liners are the debate equivalent of a boxing jab, used to control the dynamic and disrupt attacks. Then as Hillary gets frustrated by Trump dominating the message, she'll get even more aggressive, opening her up to some vicious counter-attacks and the possibility of a sudden knockout.

This video really needs to be more thorough. Obviously if you make a claim like this you should provide more insight rather than just segments of footage. We need to know if this happened at any other times (like the top comment says) or if maybe she just likes to scratch her face (as often people do when frustrated). We can't just be throwing around stuff trying to slander either sides and drum up an uproar without more context.

Is there a reason this isn't higher then 72%? Even if not true, the chances of this happening are staggering enough when compared to the content of the debate. We can all agree Holt definitely went in on Trump several times; but during the stamina conversation he forgets about her tumble on 9/11? Not to mention more hardballs that weren't thrown her way. Also no mention of her cough on the MSM, but just today I heard someone say Trump was clearly must be doing coke and that's why he had the sniffles.
