Except Nintendo doesn't make batteries...

Its how the battery charges.

Fast chargers fuck batteries.

More specifically: heat. Fast charger = more heat = more battery deterioration.

I bet it's the oxidation.

Damn oxygen is the cause of all our problems.

Don't worry, humanity is hard at work rolling out the patch that nerfs O2 levels at this very moment!

Oxidation releases heat, so it's probably still heat.

prolly not, batteries are a chemical reaction and if all your stuff that's sposed to be reacting is covered by a thin layer of oxidation (known as rust when it's on iron), well that's probably going to have a negative effect on the reaction.

heat's just a byproduct... try and create light? hey look bonus heat as energy... you can't avoid it.

an increase in temperature generally makes things react more quickly.

Well that, and that Nintendo CPUs don't exactly generate much heat from being clocked so low.

It has even more to do with the selection of the battery manufacturer. Very tight quality controls and very good starting materials are really important for a battery that lasts a long time.

Meanwhile, My phone is at full charge and one hour later it's at -50 percent.

Meanwhile, 3DS batteries die after 2-3 days standby. :/

I doubt the DS was left switched on in storage.

The battery on the DS lite lasts soooooo long in standby mode

If only this mentality was prevalent today in smartphones and handhelds...

It could be if it was really wanted. People tend to use their smartphones everyday though so a long stand by battery time is not top priority.

Just like my 3310 Nokia

I turned my DS Phat on for the first time in a few years, and it had a full battery. Meanwhile, my Wii U gamepad dies whether I use it or not if I don't charge it every few days.

Fat ass blue DS still works like a charm, just need to ebay a charger

[–]dissenter_the_dragon 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

same thing happened to me. found my old ps2, turned it on after plugging it in and it was at FULL. it's too old to have a battery indicator %, but there was no slow down or anything. batteries on these old devices were amazing.

And then they made the WiiU gamepad.....that thing doesn't hold a charge and it lasts only a few hours. Yet the Pro controller for the WiiU will last 80+ hours

Yes, but this is only true if the device is completely powered down. Standby mode is a totally different thing.

My personal 3DS as well as my kids 2DS'es only last a couple of days if they're in standby, before flashing the low battery alert.

The fact that it was in storage for 6+ years though...

80% battery... Down to 13% in 2 and a half minutes

Apple needs to learn a thing or two

They have the courage to not care about battery life. SO BRAVE.

They do not make batteries. The reason there is still a charge is because the thing shuts off completely and does not draw current. Modern devices have things like WiFi that still operate even when the device is "off"

Tell that to the psp, even with wifi and the whole system off it died in a week. Vita one is pretty good though.

Pretty sure it uses the arc reactor.
