Trump did well but so did $hillary
Hillary and the moderator blew their load, they hammered him on everything but Trump U and the Mexican judge deal. Trump still has Benghazi & the Emails to talk about. He also hasnt started pressing her about the saudis and clinton foundation.
Trump held it back to a tie, people are going to be interested in the next debate and he is going to hang her there, I'll be shocked if she shows up for all 3.

It's hard to be professional when the moderator is ganging up on you. For as unfair as that debate was, he did a great job staying presidential.
Holt's positioning last night was clearly bias, but he did toss Trump a large softball too with cyber security. It was the perfect opportunity for him to hammer Hillary on being unwilling/unable to even practice safe handling policies with national secrets. He wouldn't even have to mention criminal intent, just continually present the case for her gross professional incompetence. Then other times he just left possible nails hanging in the air, on the DNC and on Bernie, rather than hammering into the coffin, instead focusing on his taxes and the birther bullshit and when he formally declared he was against the war in Iraq.
It was a night of missed opportunities after the first 25 minutes or so, one that irritated me greatly.
Yeah I agree. I think he should have mentioned the quote "extremely careless" by James Comey. Then again, I'm just a mere 2D chess player, so maybe he knows more about marketing/messaging than I do. I have a feeling that quote will come up in the 2nd/3rd debates and/or the TV ad blitz.

It may have been a softball Holt tossed him, but Holt was also directing the discussion immediately toward cyber security which Hillary has been harping on about for a while with Putin and how we need to destroy Russia etc etc.
Remember, the section was supposed to be about "Securing America", which involves Terrorism and the like which Trump has been great on, not just private email servers which Hillary has answered/dodged comfortably several times before.
I felt like he dominated early, but started losing control around the birther question. He got off topic, and his closing statements about how he could have insulted her wasn't a good one. He should have corrected her on Rosie ODonell and then condemned her for using his words out of context. In the beginning though he looked great, but got overconfident and interrupted Hillary too much. The "it's called business" and "30 years" comments had me in stitches, but he went on too long. I think if he learns from his mistakes here he can absolutely crush Hillary in the next debates.
It's really not up to us centipedes how well he did, it's mostly the undecideds and independents he was going after this time around, proving he had temperment, which is the biggest issue most have with him. I think he nailed that part.
While I agree he did get off topic with regard to the birther questions (which shouldn't even have been asked mind you), I have to disagree on the could have insulted her point. He pointed out that while he has been taking the high road, all Hitlery does is sling mud, and it opens it up for him to really take it to her in the next debates.

He said directly in a quote, that global warming is a Chinese made up thing to convince the US to cripple itself and ship it's jobs to China. Whether you believe in man made global climate change or not (I do) this is actually a good way to get both sides of the topic into a discussion. Whether climate change is real or not, China is raping us because of it.
We are already headed to a mass migration event from the coastal cities and 3rd world countries, and a strong American economy will ensure we can solve these future problems in a pragmatic way. We have to rebuild our infrastructure now so when things go to shit, we don't have to worry about them at that moment and can focus on solutions like air scrubbers and massive green houses.
It sounded to me that his criticism was the climate change movement. Lets face it the typical reaction, is to implement knee jerk policies that only end up hurting businesses (forcing them to China and mexico where there are lower regulations.) or putting money in someones pocket without doing much, such as with wind turbines, carbon credits, and carbon taxes.
I get the sense he has no problem with environmentalism as long as it is sensible.
Knee jerk policies also seem to find a way of being corrupted also. The whole patriot act was a knee jerk reaction that has since been vastly expanded to areas it was never meant to cover when you look into the spirit of the law.
If people really wanted to fix the environment, then it will be nuclear reactor designs that produce much less waste and are much harder to fail catastrophically. But the way you can tell politicians really don't want to fix the environment, is because they just keep passing regulations that make it impossible or affordable to build a plant. Electric vehicles powered by nuclear power remove most of the air pollution.
yea i am believe in climate change (you can see it for yourself year to year) - whether that is human made or natural, ill leave that for scientists..but i agree with the rest of your statements. Gotta do something about china raping the west...

We need manufacturing and more importantly, the labor force with the knowledge to make things, here in the US. How the hell is an economy of just programmers/gender study majors going to feed themselves in the event of world wide disaster. We are domesticated animals that are always 72 foodless hours away from acting like wild animals. When you are in that state of mind, you won't be able to calmly solve problems.
The UN investigative team( or what ever they are called) has said that all the human CO2 out put since 1950 has only raised global temp 1 degree Celsius. So it is happening but It's way blown out of proportion by politicians' and environmental alarmists. Like al gore who predicted that new York would be under water by 2012.
The climate is always changing, there is no "normal" climate, so far it has been within natural variability. The 97% consensus has been debunked, the hockey stick graph Al Gore used in his (hilarious) power point has been ripped apart (cherry picking data). It has also been much warmer during the current interglacial and that always gets downplayed. Yes, that's right we are still in an ice age as far as we know.
Should be responsible? Of course, don't shit where you eat, and oil is such an amazing resource we shouldn't be wasting it, and of course we should find ways to use it cleanly, but try not to buy into a lot of it-it's one of the globalist tools.
This! Looking into this has been a rather unsettling discovery of realizing science, like everything else, can be politicized. So Hillary last night says "Trump says climate change is a hoax" and Trump says "I did not say that" and that's true - he said global warming was created by the Chinese. Global warming and climate change are very different; global warming is a specific argument that the earth is heating up while climate change is a vague statement that weather patterns have/are changing. I find it fascinating how much of a shift we've seen in the last 10-15 years. The early 2000s, global warming was a buzz word made most popular by Al Gore. Now, it's very rarely cited as global warming and instead, it's all about "climate change." Not a coincidence. Gore's documentary has been proven inaccurate and science can't decide if the earth actually is heating up; the only thing everyone can agree on is that the climate has changed but it has always changed over time since the beginning of time, leaving everyone to wonder how big of a contribution industrialization is truly making. Depends which side you ask! I have no idea who to believe.
But I do know that it is true that China is way less regulated than us in regards to environmental and emissions responsibility, which allows them to be more competitive. I'm not sure the answer to that is to turn our backs to pro-environment legislation, but it's certainly a contributor to why factories operate cheaper abroad.
I'm in the same boat here. Hate Hillary, but if I'm being fair and honest I don't think he won the debate. The stop and frisk comment, paired with not denying his comment about global warming. God, I wish there was another party. I'm pro-choice, believe in global warming, but I hate social justice warriors and safe space, hate BLM.
Trump believes in global warming you clowns. He doesn't think the weather isn't real. But go look into the state funded science producing this global warming hysteria. Trust me, trump is years ahead of everyone on this and we're going to look back and feel silly for vilifying him on this.
So much this. There's a massive difference between thinking global warming in general is a hoax, and not falling fall all the doomsday, big government nonsense surrounding it.
Of course the MSM cucks are trying to misrepresent Trump's position, and manipulate the idiots that fall for it.
He believes the climate changes, period. He also believes China is over there producing metaphorical shit tons of fucking emissions and that they really need to cut back their shit. Somehow that gets translated into Trump thinks climate change is a Chinese hoax.
The thing with Climate Change is that while it may or may not be an actual thing (frankly the leading scientists have totally destroyed their credibility on the matter), it has become so politicized by the international liberals that it's impossible to believe any of it.
As a responsible centipede I believe we should respect our environment, conserve resources the best we can, and limit unnecessary pollution to the extent possible. That's the smart and vigilant approach.
The insane liberal idea is to halt all industrial activity in the western world... which has the obvious effect of allowing countries such as China to totally eclipse the west in industrial output, because countries such as China don't have the immediate luxury of caring about long-term ecology problems that are mostly only theoretical anyway. Meanwhile our economy suffers needlessly.
Edit: Climate Change is a far cry from "an immediate risk to our national security" as Obama has said. The only "immediate risk to our national security" is Islamic terrorism, and both Hillary and Obama completely refuse to acknowledge it.

for a noobie, could you explain the benghazi thing to me please? (from canada)
The US embassy in Benghazi, Libya was attacks by islamists after Clinton and Obama's destabilizing policies ousted the former leader of Libya Momar Gaddafi during the 'Arab Spring'. Clinton tried to lay blame for the attack on some random internet video so people wouldn't think her Libya experiment had turned the country into an islamist shithole. It was proven the video had nothing to do with it.
Also, the ambassadors in libya had been repeatedly calling for aid, reinforcements, extractions and were repeatedly denied. They were killed and dragged through the streets of benghazi all because hillary didnt want to go in and help them. The narrative, and the legitimizing of her policies were more important than american lives that day.
They had everyone deployed with the Youtube story. Their state dept minions, the media, all saying the same talking point lies which immediately failed the sniff test. It was so obviously directed from on high that this is what they would try to sell. There was stonewalling in the investigation. They prevented people from being interviewed. The soldiers ready to go help were told from on high to change uniforms, no now change back to the first uniform and other dumb time wasting BS. Just all kinds of mishandling. Not sending in help was one of the worst parts of it. Seems like an intentional dereliction of duty.
Word on the street is that she intentionally let them die to cover up a gun running operation that the ambassador was about to blow the whistle on.
After Secretary Clinton handed Libya to ISIS, she left our Ambassador and his team to die. It was proven he asked her multiple time for more security.
She basically created hell on earth in Libya, then left the people whos job it is to be there on our behalf to die in a siege.
For months, the Embassy in Benghazi suspected unrest was brewing. One night the radicals attacked and they pleaded Hillary's State Department for military assistance which was not far away. Hillary ignored it and the Embassy was burned and four Amicans killed and bodies dragged through the street. Hillary then blamed the attack on some anti-islam YouTube video no one had heard of. Then said she didn't know about the attack as it happened, which records show was a complete lie.

This debate went the way we all thought it would, with Hillary get softballs all night and Trump getting the "Are you still beating your wife" type of questions. And even so, in spite of it all, Americans seem to think Trump still won.
This election is blowing up in the establishments faces. Every single act of control they try is failing; trust in government is at an all time low, trust in the MSM is at an all time low, everyone seems to know social media is being whitewashed every single day. That's why I don't want Hillary to win. It's not so much her policies, it's that I literally do not think she would be governing from a place where she's understanding the world around her. Remember it's all about persuasion.
Trump had one thing to do..it was to show that he could look and be presidential on the big stage.
Trump couldn't unload the arsenal because people on the fence may be off put by it. For many people watching Trump for the first time him being an attack dog would only strengthen the false persona the media/lefties have tried to make of him.
His job was to show they he could be professional and calm on a stage..especially next to a person calling him names.
Now that many people have a better impression of him he can slowly ratchet up the attacks.
Honestly Hillary pulled out all her weapons last night. The birther stuff, unhappy workers, lawsuits, taxes, etc. It was the tactic of person in desperation.

to many people, surprisingly, this was the first time many people really saw trump in full form rather than soundbites and commentaries on media. maaaaany people don't start paying attention till the the debates.
I think it mostly depends on who's taking the poll. After seeing this post, I looked up post debate polls and CNN and all the leftist medias are saying that Clinton won by a landslide. I still think Trump did really well, much better than I expected him to do, and I'm very proud of how he controlled himself. And Hillary lied just as much as I expected her to. I think by showing that he is capable of control will pull him up.

Overall I feel it was a win, but I will hold off my final decision until I see poll movement.
My black relatives (mix of military and civilian) seemed to put Trump a bit behind in this debate for how he appeared unprepared. Backing stop and frisk didn't play well either. The "tax cuts for the rich" thing didn't play well either. To be honest, I think I did a better job of explaining some of Trump's positions than he did. But this would be entirely consistent with Trump getting only 25% black support- you would expect 75% to still not be on board. Keep in mind everyone is still voting for Trump in my family, some just felt he lost the debate. No one was really horrified by anything he said, which I think is a good sign.
Overall, it seems like a lot of people (in general) didn't really connect with the points Clinton was scoring. Maybe she's trying to shore up support among the Bernouts? The whole implicit bias thing I think is going to play very poorly pretty much everywhere but the black community. I think everyone else is completely sick of that shit.
I think that maybe I was a bit harsh on the Donald for not jumping on opportunities but it feels like almost everyone knows the Clinton scandals by this point. You don't have to bring them up for people to remember them.
He just needed to explain tax cuts better. Cutting taxes on the rich doesn't mean shit.
Look at how she brought it up. "Your tax returns might show you pay nothing". Well yea bitch. No wealthy person pays taxes because they use workarounds in the system.
And he needed to explain "rich people make jobs because they have money." That or they'll just hide it better.
I tend to agree with most of your sentiments, but I think one of the things working in Trump's favor is that, within most people's minds, they didn't expect him to be polished (he wasn't) and they expected Hillary to be a politician (she was). So, despite his occasional drifting and name dropping, when he made points they were more significant (trade deals, law and order, etc.), but also were points poorly addressed by Hillary in her follow up.
Plus, she called everyone racist. We're all deplorables now, I guess.
I want to add, that because we're redditors we probably spend much more time on the Internet and websites of substances than a large majority of people in the country. I see and hear people all the time parrot "can we stop talking about emails already, big deal."
People know of the email scandal, but not at all what was contained in them, or even the reasons why it is a danger to us and illegal. I don't see mention of the Clinton Foundation, DNC leaks, or even the connection of who clinton's top donor's are.
We here are peppered with revelations of it daily, because we're in the right area to take in that information when it's cast out. I know so few people that are actually trying to research any of these things at all, for both candidates.
Trump needs to mention these events and crimes of Hillary and everyone involved. Most people do not know at all, and he's the best bet to get the information out to them and peak interest.
I agree 100% that his comments about "biases" (fuck you holt) and problem solving for urban communities was very broad and unclear, but there just wasn't enough time to put them into clearer light, especially with the agenda against him. This morning I clarified all of those points, that's what we do on our end. For that, good job and thank you.

The numbers might not be as good as they seem...Trump has a much larger online presence than Hillary, it's not that much of a surprise to see a lead in online polls. BreitBart, which you could expect 90%+ Trump voters is 75/25, and Drudge which you would expect nearly 100% is 90/10.
Take it with a grain of salt. Getting overconfident now would be a huge mistake.

Pick a random person in the street they can tell you what Trump stands for. The entire debate is centred around his ideas. He's framing the debate.
Hillary has a patchwork of policies. Even assuming some or most of them are good, that's not what's going to win an election.
