Here are some general rules of thumbs and fiscal goals you should work towards to improve your quality of life.
1) Pay off your highest interest debts first
If you owe $20 at 120% its worth paying that first over say $1000 with 2%. Seems counter intuative but this approach saves the most money
2) buy property
This should be a long term goal. Eventually paying off a residence will allow you to stretch out your pension in later life and an asset to sell if you require expensive care.
3) change jobs every 2-5 years
Depending on circumstance its recommended to change jobs every now and then this provides two benefits. An instant pay rise in most cases and an increase in your hire ability due to increased experience. Always keep in touch with previous companies to build connections.
4) save a years wages
This makes the biggest impact in your life overall. The knowledge you are fully independent. Flexible. Unemployment protected. Changes your life you can make greater risks and get those higher rewards.
5) always buy second hand cars or cycle haha
Cars are money pits. A new car only looks new for a few months but as soon as you buy one guess what it is second hand! Second hand cars are amazing value compared to any other alternative.
6) general saving tips
Do you need to eat lunch out everyday? Do you need to smoke drink and take cabs as much as you do? Do you need that sports equipment? Do you need that game the second it comes out? Do you need to gamble $100 tonight? If you haven't got fuck you money and you don't have emergency money/years wages and your credit cards isn't payed off, should you be living the fuck you lifestyle?
I'm not saying don't enjoy yourself but you know what you waste money on ask yourself do you need to?
