$1800 for two bootleg shirts from some guy? What? I understand designer clothes and if you are spending that kind of money on it you're not concerned about the price tag. If you were then you can't afford the shirt.

I know the type. They see someone on TV or something that is successful. Like a clothing designer.. Someone who makes bank doing something high class.

These people think "that's what I want to be" and in their head from that moment on, they are. There's usually some poor parent stuck footing the bill as they never will work their way up to get to this point.. They just feel entitled to it and will do this to anyone who gives them the time of day.

You nailed it. I have also noticed a few other almost ritualistic behaviors:

On all social media, they have their occupation always listed as "CEO", "President", and/or "Owner", of Scandalous Enterprise LLC. or whatever their worthless business is called.

They will always bother anyone who is a creative hobbyist, part-, or full-time professional (photographer, graphic designer, web developer, film editor, music producer etc.) to "collaborate" as a "business opportunity."

Incessantly post memes, quotes, and other TV-dinner media related to success, the "grind", the "hustle".

Almost always finances a several year old, higher mileage luxury import or Cadillac. Favorite marquees in descending order: BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Infiniti, Lexus.

Is not necessarily in the gym rat, gym-bro category, but posts selfies in the gym as part of the whole "daily hustle" image.

Last but not least, has no idea how medium or larger enterprises are successfully ran.

Goddamn, you nailed it.

When I was doing freelance graphic design work out of college, hordes of these people descended on me asking me to do free work "as a business opportunity", and they would all inevitably get really salty when I turned them down.

One guy in particular was dead-set on selling these kitchen hoods, went on and on about how they were going to revolutionize kitchen design, and if I remember correctly had offered something like $900 a month on his ad to do what would amount to about 10 hours of work every week. Not too terrible for someone right out of college.

So anyway, after he gave me his pitch, he then asked what kind of design experience I had. I directed him to my portfolio, listed some of the logos and websites I did work for, and that's when I realized he wanted me TO DESIGN THE KITCHEN HOOD FROM SCRATCH. Like I was an engineer or industrial designer on top of a graphic designer. Also, no payment, but he "promised the money would come in once these things started to sell".

Later I learned when you're given a ludicrous job offer, it's best to just say "no" and move on. But I was new to freelancing and was flabbergasted, I mean, did this guy just go on about how he was going to revolutionize kitchen hoods and he didn't even have the first clue about what his product would even be? So instead of saying "no", I said: you want me to design a product from scratch, create the marketing, design the website, all for free, just so that if, and that's a huge IF, this product is successful YOU can pay ME?

All he said was, "well, it's my idea."

I turned him down, and was subject to 3-4 e-mails about how I was missing out on a huge opportunity and would regret this decision and so on and so on...

These people are real. The fantasy world the live in, however...

I mean that's almost how a business owner operates, minus one very important detail. Fronting the expenses

Well, it sounds like it's been few years. Creep on his social media, tell us if he ever got the hood designed.

I had a former neighbor who was always hustling one shitty get-rich-quick "business" after another: multi-level marketing bullshit, day-trading, event planning, etc. He drove a (leased) BMW and acted like a high roller, but he had zero discipline or follow-through, none of his schemes ever amounted to anything, and eventually he moved away. Last I heard he was working for a carpet cleaning service.

I ran into the guy randomly on the street last year and he tried to convince me to "collaborate" with him on some shitty idea for a dating website (I do software and systems work). Even if the concept wasn't shit (and 20 years too late), there's no way on Earth I would ever go into business with this moron.

Who doesn't though amirite?

Jesus christ.. You articulated exactly the person I had in mind. Like so well that I feel like you must have a sibling doing this.

I had one friend, grandfather was rich and bought him whatever he wanted. So he had bmws and nice stuff. Always told people he was in finance.. When they'd ask what specifically, "stocks".. Uhh, ok. He never worked. He didn't even understand what he was saying he just felt like that was who he was.

Not a sibling, I just know a lot of these types. I worked as a professional DJ for a while and invariably just networked with lots of other self-employed professionals. I usually had a full-time job (engineer) as well so I never saw it as my main job. Regardless, I just ended up meeting so many "business people" of varying degrees of delusion and skill, but the one thing I saw they all had was a mistaken obsession for the image and lifestyle, not the actual drive to be successful. They think the lifestyle is material, not the reality of insane working hours and calculated risk taking.

The worst is a guy I used to be friends with who might be on the spectrum. He was remarkably less intelligent and talented than most people, never had the patience or insight on how to cultivate increasingly valuable skills and better jobs. He has a bad temper problem causing him to act impulsively; he has quit or been fire from over 40 jobs since we were 16 or so. He has been obsessed with starting a lawn mower repair business, which is an absolute joke. He is obsessed with this idea because that's what his retired father does for 20-30 hours a week to stay busy since he already has a paid off mortgage, a pension, an IRA. No respect at all for reality and it pisses me off.

I'm glad to know that I don't know any of these people. I'm saddened to believe that they exist.

There was a guy I was in medical school with who ended up failing out. Always kinda seemed like a pompous dick, but no one ever really called him on his shit since, hey. It's med school and everyone for the most part keeps their grades and such to themselves. Anyway after he failed out his facebook was fraught with memes about success, picture quotes, etc., followed shortly after by some kind of pyramid scheme bs and him forming something like "Follow Your Dreams, Inc."

I'll probably never talk to him again, but sometimes it's fun to follow trainwrecks on Facebook.

Fucking Hell, that's accurate. I am cringing just thinking about it.

nor your looks

Also his math doesn't make sense.

buy one get 200 cut off of the other one so 1800 for 2

x+y-200=1800
x+y=1800+200
x+y=2000

instead of 2400

x+y=2400

Even if it was $200 off of each one it still wouldn't make sense, because that would be $2000. Where the hell did he get $1800?

Not only that, but if I could afford that, I'm buying it from the actual Versace store, not some racist turd pretending to be rich and successful.

He didn't say they were bootleg. He's just reselling.

I think the only time wearing black racing gloves with a blazer and neck tie is ok is if you are an assassin in an action movie in the 90s.

Or you're driving a convertible vintage sports car in England and they're driving gloves.

Ha maybe, I'm willing to guess he is neither an assassin or driver of a vintage sports car.

But even then, you need to leave that shit in the car.

Is there a point of driving gloves other than to try to look cool?

The steering wheels on vintage cars tend to be smooth plastic or polished wood. The gloves are for grip, no different than batting gloves for baseball.

Is he huge in other countries?

No, he just got off on being lowest common denominator 'good' music, stuff that fills radio station slots. He's sort of the Black Eyed Peas embodied into one man.

lol I've most accurate description I've heard. It's not even his music that bothers me the most, it's the high pitched WOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEE that he does in every song

I know quite a few people who like him. His music is pretty popular if you go to a generic nightclub on the weekends.

I personally don't care for his music at all, but from what I've heard about how he treats people and the effort he puts into his work, he's seems to be a pretty cool dude.

yeah no doubt. pitbull the man is nice as hell and always has time for his fans. his music is a dumpster fire though.

however when I spent some time in San Salvador his music was very very popular with the Salvadorans. this was '13-'14

My friend works for him. Apparently he's really nice in person and great to work for. I suspect that goes a long way in the music industry.

I'm glad he's a good person. Good people should be successful.

My experience with him is the complete opposite.

I used to work security in a club, and one night he was performing there. People were throwing beer cans on stage about 20 mins into his set, so he (rightfully) requested extra security in addition to his bodyguard. I ended up being instructed to stand on the stage - and keep in mind that this stage is not very big... certainly not big enough for him, his bodyguard, me, and his three dancers. Whenever they weren't dancing they would move to stage left and stand there looking pretty - exactly where I was told to stand.

It got very crowded and eventually I got in their way, something one of the dancers really didn't like and started yelling at me. Pitbull heard her, stopped during the middle of a song, and started yelling at me too over the microphone. I wouldn't have been irked since I can understand being frustrated about a tough crowd and people getting in the way of their dancers making them jump in off cue, but he just got arrogant and insulting by telling me he's better than me, questioning why I was even there, so on and so forth. In front of about 600 people (I'm just guestimating that one, wasn't a big crowd but it was about quarter capacity). I simply said "hey, you're the one who requested security because people were throwing beer cans at you" to which he retorted with the timeless "get a real job, fucking rentacop". At that point I'd had enough of his verbal abuse so I said, perhaps louder than I intended, "I'll think about it when you start making real music". He lost it and starting swearing and yelling things like "the fuck did you say to me?", "who do you think you are", yadda yadda. His bodyguard had to come between him and I and I was told over the radio to get off the stage. He might be nice to some people, but he was a downright asshole to me and that will always be imprinted on my thoughts of him.

If she doesn't like him, then he just didn't brag hard enough, so he brags some more. If she still doesn't like him, then she's either dickmatized by Black penis, or is a gold-digging whore.
