Bill O’Reilly sat down with Ellen DeGeneres today for a chat about the election and he sort-of defended Donald Trump on his temperament and tax returns.

O’Reilly did say that Trump is a “wild card” who likes insulting people, and that he certainly has “thin skin.”

But at the same time, he argued, people are wrong to view Trump as some kind of “irresponsible crazy man” who would want to invade Russia if Vladimir Putin insults him.

As for Trump’s tax returns, DeGeneres argued that if Trump is going to argue that Hillary Clinton is “dishonest” or sneaky, he shouldn’t “have anything to hide.”

O’Reilly said “as a journalist” he would love to see Trump’s returns, but he understands Trump doesn’t want the press poring over his financials.
