Can the Üllo Wine Purifier do what no one has ever been able to do? Everyone in the entire world who has ever drank too much alcohol has been trying to find a way to cure a hangover. For centuries scientists and inventors have been experimenting with pills, fruit mixes, chemical mixes, devices, you name it, in order to reduce the effects of dehydration from alcohol. That severe dehydration is what causes a major headache, or “hangover.” But company Üllo is claiming they may have found a cure.
A device called the “Üllo” filters out headache inducing sulfites from your wine bottle. These sulfites are added to wine to maintain freshness while brewing. Üllo says that you can experience a taste that’s “straight from the vineyard” without having the dreaded hangover worry. In addition to the sulfite removal, there’s also an option to aerate the wine for a “purer” drinking experience.
So who exactly is Üllo? Üllo is a Chicago startup with a simple mission to bring wine back to its natural state.
The directions are pretty simple
1. POUR
All wine contains sulfites, which are artificial preservatives added during production. They are no longer needed once the bottle is opened.
2. PURIFY
Proprietary polymer technology filters away free sulfites and their bitter taste, while allowing other compounds in wine to flow though unaffected.
3. PURE WINE
Through Selective Sulfite Capture™, free sulfites are reduced to a more naturally occurring level for most wines.
So how much does one of these cost? The Üllo wine purifier is $79.99 and a package of filters is $19.99. Is this worth the cost to potentially remove hangovers from wine? Only time will tell.
